depression and breastfeeding?
Posted by: | CommentsQuestion by Jadzia Dax: depression and breastfeeding?
I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder about 11 years ago, recently I was re-diagnosed with PTSD and told that I was never bipolar (which would explain the fact that I never had many of the serious problems that come with bipolar disorder) about 2 weeks ago I began having depressive feelings and a heighten sense of sight and sound (hyper vigilance as it’s called) The doctor recommended that I take Dextroamphetamine to boast my mood, and stabilize my senses. But having a degree in Psychology I was able to immediately respond to the doctor with “but then I can’t breastfeed.”
Are there any other mom’s going through this?
I’m not really sure what I should do, my son is 10 months old and still needs my breast, I don’t like formulas and I have only a 1 month supply in the freezer. I was hoping to nurse him for another year or two. If you are going through something similar how did you make the change, how did you choose to go on meds?
How do i go about making a decision like this, I can use all the advice in the world right now.
I just want to say thanks to every one that answered all of your answers were great!
gavi624 the 2nd- I think I might just take your advice and start him on early cow’s milk, but i’m going to speak to his doctor to insure that he’s getting everything he needs, thanks.

Your baby needs you to be happy. If you feel the medication could make a significant change for the better then maybe it is for the better. Your baby can enjoy the frozen milk for now and move on to cows milk on their birthday. If you did end up giving formula it would only be for a couple weeks.

Fellow Christians: Do you think that faith requires HUMILITY??
Posted by: | CommentsQuestion by GodisLove09: Fellow Christians: Do you think that faith requires HUMILITY??
“At that time Jesus said, “I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and have revealed them to infants.” Matthew 11:25
But Jesus called for them, saying, “Permit the children to come to Me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these” Luke 18:16
Do you think that Jesus is saying that a humble “child-like” person will know God and not someone who thinks they are too smart to believe in God (Pride)?

Couple of questions about labor?
Posted by: | CommentsQuestion by ThisIsME ッ: Couple of questions about labor?
I’m due on Sunday with my first and I just have a couple of questions maybe you guys can help me with.
How will I know if my baby dropped? Will I notice it? Or will it be subtle? (And don’t be a troll and say “when you hear a thud” or something stupid. I don’t have the patience for it!)
What is a “mucus plug” and how will I know if I lose it?
Is it more common for your water to break in a sudden gush or a slow trickle?
Thanks guys!
Best answer:
Answer by crystal
when your baby dropps he/she will be putting more pressure on your pelvic bone, and that only happens with first born children. normally its visible, but when i did i didnt notice but those around me did. you most likely already have.
the mucous plug is a protective barrier that covers the opening of the cervix to protect the baby from outside bacteria. as you dialate it falls out because now there is nothing holding it up. it appears as if you blew your nose on the toilet paper. sometimes it is bloody as it was for me, and thats called the bloody show and usually happens 24 hours before labour starts, but not always. it did for me.
my doctor had to break my water and when he did it was a big gush
i hope i helped and congrats and good luck!!!

Can Jamieson Vitamin E fade/remove stretch marks?
Posted by: | CommentsQuestion by Abby: Can Jamieson Vitamin E fade/remove stretch marks?
Hi, I’m a teenager and unfortunately, I have some stretch marks on my back. I’m not sure how to remove it but right now, I’m using Jamieson Vitamin E which claims to “reduce the appearance of stretch marks”. Has anyone used this product before and gotten good results?

There are a few ways to do it, either you can use the DIY method or try those proven treatment creams out on the market.
Try to massage the area with the stretch marks about three or four times a day with moisturizers that contain cocoa butter or shea butter as a prime ingredient. This hydrates the skin, making it more pliant. Again, this is most effective only in the initial stage.
If your stretch marks are already pass the initial stage (when they are red, purple, pink, or brown, depending on the color of your skin) and become white or silver (usually with deep indentation), then it would be far more difficult to minimize them, but not entirely impossible to “remove” them. But before you begin searching for these treatments, try to read more information on these topical treatments first.
Many are advertised to “repair” stretch marks, but few have actually been proven to be effective. Here’s some that are available on the market:
a) Wheat germ oil – may help improve stretch marks in their early phase.
b) Glycolic acid – increases collagen production; can be administered in higher doses by a dermatologist (usually costs a few hundred bucks and requires a few visits before you see results)
c) Vitamin C – certain formulations might increase collagen production, but they’ll only help with early-stage stretch marks; for best results, combine with glycolic acid.
d) Relastin – the effectiveness of this product is unknown and unverified.
e) Peptide-containing products – these “repair” creams are ineffective; there’s no evidence that they work.
f) Retinoids – they’re fairly effective in increasing collagen and elastic production in the early stages, but they should be avoided if you’re pregnant or nursing; they’re more effective when used in combination with glycolic acid.
I would recommend treatments that are using “100% natural ingredients” such as aloe vera. Aloe vera has been shown in clinical studies to have a positive effect on wound healing and holds anti-inflammatory properties.
As stretch marks start out as microscopic tears in skin layers due to overstretching of the dermis, aloe vera helps heal these small wounds without causing scar tissue to form, effectively preventing the appearance of stretch marks. Aloe vera has been used for thousands of years by the Egyptians, Romans, Greeks, Arabs, Indians and Chinese to decrease the appearance of scars and to moisturize and heal skin. The extracts from the aloe leaf protects skin from environmental factors and promotes skin regeneration.

What does exclusively breastfeeding mean?
Posted by: | CommentsQuestion by Green Is Sexxxy: What does exclusively breastfeeding mean?
When I hear the term “exclusively breastfeeding” I think it means breastfeeding only…as in no bottles, no formula, no solids. But sometimes I hear people say “exclusively breastfed” and then in the next breath they talk about how their baby gets a bottle of expressed milk.
So my q…what is the correct definition of an “exclusively breastfed babby”
Please no insults to anyone, this is an honest q to clear things up in my head, just b/c I’m curious.
Thanks to all and Happy Sunday
=)
ok, please no thumbs down…lets keep this friendly =)

“When I hear the term “exclusively breastfeeding” I think it means breastfeeding only…as in no bottles, no formula, no solids”
Yes.
Compare to “exclusively breastmilk fed,” for babies of pumping Moms…
edit: there is a discussion of this here: http://www.llli.org/ba/Feb00.html
and I am not correct in every context. But note in particular
“This newer set of definitions does not take into account:
•Impact of direct breastfeeding compared to indirect breast-milk feeding on maternal physiology and maintenance of milk supply
•The contrasting definitions used in research studies cited
•The immunological and other differences for the infant between breastfeeding and breast milk feeding.”

Should I become a stay-at-home mom?
Posted by: | CommentsQuestion by Milana P: Should I become a stay-at-home mom?
Don’t really like my job, but really like the career path I’m on. My oldest will start kindergarten this fall, my youngest will start next year. I couldn’t wait to get back to work when I stayed home, now I miss seeing how they’re doing, who they play with, what they eat. I miss being “just a mom” but I don’t want to give up on myself, either.
My boss says I can go part time if I want, but my husband is pressuring me to quit. I would love to hear from men as well as women on this.

Go part time. You can work when they are at school, maintain your job skills and career, and still get to spend lots of time with your kids. Good for you!

Do you really believe an adopted child will live a fairytale life??
Posted by: | CommentsQuestion by Tears are *Diamonds*: Do you really believe an adopted child will live a fairytale life??
So many times on a question about abortion many people will say “Give the child up for adoption.” Yes, there are good families that want a child but do you really believe that EVERY child given up for adoption will have a good life? A lot of times the child goes through the system for years suffering with people who adopt for money, people who will abuse and mistreat them. Also, to carry a child for so long to just “GIVE” the baby up is not an easy thing to do.

Answer by keevelish
I don’t believe that any child, adopted or not will live a fairy tale life. That’s bunk.
Life is full of hardships and sorrows regardless of what you do. But to take that innocent human life, no matter the circumstances of it’s creation and determine whether it lives or dies is wrong.

There is no way to get rid of them period. A good lotion works to help them look smaller, but you will never see them disappear. It is a permanent thing. Sorry.
