How do you find children that are up for adoption when you already have a home study?
ByMy partner and I are currently foster parents. We just changed our license from foster only to foster-to-adopt. We want to find children that are under age 5 that are up for adoption. Problem is most of the websites that we have looked at don’t show that age range. So how do you find the ones that you are looking for?

Contact Children’s Protective Services in your area. The little, little kids are handled differently than the older ones, and often go to crisis nurseries and aren’t posted online.
There are private foster care companies. Contact them individually.

You haven’t developed child-dar yet?. Kidding.
Don’t become predators…..stick with using foster care.
If it becomes necessary for a child to be adopted then you will provided with a selection of pickens’. I think it would be best if you interviewed children that were capable of making the decision to choose you since your lifestyle isn’t exactly “traditional”. Not judging (to each his own) but I have morbidly obese Aps and they make me sick. I would not have chosen them and wished someone had prevented them from being able to purchase me. Obesity is comfortable and normal for them but its not for me. The heavy breathing after they walk up a few stairs makes me so nauseated.

What websites? I suggest adoptuskids.com. There really aren’t any children under 8 on there that don’t have severe problems. If you do happen to come across a child under 8 that is mostly healthy then the compition is feirce. If you can do a large sib group you can find one with a child under 5 in it. Have you thought about private adoption. There are parents out there that are placing toddlers and school age children through the private agencies, Chask.com, and through parent profiles. Since you are looking to only adopt and not foster a child that age then this is probably your best bet. I have adopted through private agencies and am now working on my foster licence because I want a 9-10 year old. There are just none through private adoption available and very little through the state w/o a foster licence. Good luck to you!

All the adoption sites I’ve seen show all age ranges, but this one is the most comprehensive.
