In a California coastal town a sailor, Johnny (Dennis Hopper), becomes involved with a young dark haired woman (Linda Lawson) who plays a mermaid in the local carnival. After strange occurrences, he suspects that she may actually be a mermaid who habitually kills during each full moon.

Fascinating film. It brings compelling characters to life and relates a story that is touching, moody and a bit disturbing. Some things happen that hint at the supernatural without really going there, leaving some plot elements unexplained. But this gets into some dark inner space where some things defy explanation. Very well done.
