How do you know when to start giving your infant cereal?

I am a new mom and I have an infant who is almost 4 months old. He is starting to wake in the middle of the night being hungry, should I start giving him cereal? I’m not getting any sleep just need some help or helping advice.

No you just give them there regular bottle. You are sapposed to start them on cereal around 6 months, some earlier depending on the child. If your baby shows signs of eat, like he/she mocks you when you eat, then you should try to give them come cereal, or even baby food. You start both around the same time. NEVER give your baby cereal in a bottle. This can cause pneumonia, as well as popcorn when there older.

The recommendation used to be 4 months, but now they say it is better to wait 6 months for the baby’s digestive system to be ready. Some people won’t wait that long, but at least wait 4 months.

No. It’s not a good idea to give your baby solid food until you talk to his doctor. But, you can give him Oatmeal because it’s not much of a solid, it’s more of a mush.

Anywhere between 4-6 months is fine, depending on your baby. Don’t rely on us to tell you…you know your baby better than we do :)

i started my son on baby cereal at 4 months i fed it to him with a spoon and he loved it . i didnt help my son sleep more but he loves it mixed with stage 1 foods
