Have you tried a waterbirth? Hypnobabies program?
ByI’m considering one or both for when my baby comes, but I’d like to hear from you if you’ve tried either one. Was it “worth it”? Would you do it again? Would you recommend it? Did it help you and/or your baby?
Just an FYI- it will be a waterbirth at a hospital for me, not at home or in a birthcenter. I don’t have a midwife or a doula either, but I plan to run these things by the possible delivery doctors before the day arrives- I have plenty of time yet!
Thanks for the answers!
The hospital I will be delivering at will allow it- they have a permanent tub just for waterbirths there.

I had a water birth at home. The baby got stuck so I had to be rushed to the hospital BUT the cord was around his neck. If it weren’t for that, he would have been born at home.
I would recommend it to anyone to have a water birth. I did not have any pain. I did not scream or cry, just grunt through contractions. I did not yell at my hubby, haha.
I do not have experience with a water birh at a hospital, but most hospitals will not allow you to have one there. You will have to check in to your hospitals in your area.
I will do it again.

Double check on the hospital’s tub – it’s not uncommon for hospitals to install tubs, then refuse to let anyone use them. It’s often merely a selling point, and many moms find out while they are in labor that they will not be allowed to use it. (Sounds crazy, I know, but there is a huge hospital near me with a tub in every room, that they never allow anyone to use.) Also, is there a tub in every room? If not, what happens if there is already a mom using it? And ask if you’ll be allowed to actually DELIVER in the tub – you may only be allowed to labor there. I would also consider using a midwife instead of a doctor. You can still deliver at the hospital, but you will be more likely to have the birth the way you want it, and with fewer interventions.
I haven’t had a waterbirth, but I am planning a home waterbirth for my second, due in February. I had a hospital birth with my daughter, and I it was horrible. I am very much looking forward to a water birth, especially at home.
I have read good things about Hypnobabies, but I haven’t done it myself. I asked my midwife about it, and she hasn’t known anyone to use it either. If you do decide to do it, you can get the books/CDs on ebay for a lot less than they sell for new, FYI.
