I have heard of it, but did not use it. Mainly because I read Dr. Bradley's book and was impressed with his birth philosophy. That said, I think the Bradley Method and Hypnobirthing kind of run in the same vein though. I've heard a lot of people that used Hypno and it really helped them. I'm just not sure that I would have the mental strength to have a totally "painless" birth. My birth was not painless, although I dealt with all 26 hours of labor with no meds whatsoever. I did a little bit of everything, breathing, different positions, telling my body to relax and open, releasing all tension, sitting in the tub, etc. I pretty much did whatever felt right.
Anyways, I know that's not quite what you asked, but that was my labor experience. Hope I was able to help a little bit!

I read the book the mongan method, but i never did do hypnobirthing classes, however i found it great. I didn't learn how to do everything properly, but knowing how to breath and relax and trust my body was amazing and i went into the whole thing with a relaxed come-what-may attitude which really helped! I'd definitely suggest it to people as it is definitely helpful!

My SIL used it with her second child. She ended up having a c-section because of complications, but was in labor for 20 hours prior to that. She swore by hypnobabies. She said that it really helped her to stay calm. She is usually pretty high-strung.
