Hypnobirthing vs Hypnobabies?
ByI am planning to birth at home. This will be my first birthing experience. I’ve thought about doing a hypno class, but don’t know which would be better. Has anyone experienced either the hypnobirthing or hypnobabies class? What is your opinion on it? Did it help you? Is it worth the money? Thanks.

I’ve sat through a hypnobirthing class and thought it had really great coping skills that it teaches and have seen it used effectively during birth and heard women rave about their almost pain-free births with this method (and some that were surprised by the pain that they weren’t prepared for). I haven’t been to a hypnobabies class but my understanding is that they give more information about other things as well that hypnobirthing might not cover (more information about pregnancy, birth and postpartum) and uses medical hypnosis techniques. Hypnobirthing was the first class and there is some controversy that hypnobabies stole the model.
They are very similar as well…you might consider meeting with each of the instructors and seeing who you bond with and who you think will deliver the information in a way that you can relate to.
And yes, if you are considering a drug-free birth (and obviously you are), I’d HIGHLY recommend taking a birthing class such as a hypno-class! Or, you might look into Birthing From Within as an alternative model – but of course I’m biased
Good luck at choosing a class!
