I used hypnobirthing with my second child. It really helped me get through those last 3 months of pregnancy calmly & confidently. It’s good to really know what’s going on inside your body, what can cause pain, if you let it. And, to have strategies to relax your muscles so that you can let them do what they are meant to do, instead of letting your fear cause them to tighten up & fight, causing discomfort.

I got to the hospital, though, just a little after midnight on 9/11/01, still not ready to birth the baby when all the chaos began on the news. It was hard to stay properly focused & relaxed for the rest of the day. Ended up with an epidural, and, eventually, c-section (but, my first was a c-section, too, so it might just be what my body needs to do).

But, the knowledge & confidence that I had, regarding my body & the birthing process, helped me immeasurably. Marie Mongan was in my area a few months later, teaching HB certification classes. I went in & took the classes with the hopes of teaching, but never could get a class together (and have, since, let my certification lapse).

If you get nothing out of it besides the peace of knowing, relaxing days leading up to birthing, then it is worth it!
