Ahh! I remember when you did this!
What year was it? Three years ago at least.

Also, a father can be a perfect labor partner, it just depends on the woman’s needs, and on the man…and I suppose all women want exactly the same thing in labor, since you have that handy pop out guide, right? Seriously….I hope you don’t have a medical degree…if so, that’s just scary.

I am pro natural birth, and will be attempting one this time, however, if I feel unable to handle the pain, the ONLY pain management option that I feel confident is safe for my baby is an epidural. Most of the other pain meds don’t take away the pain, they just allow you to “rest” during ctx, and half of them make you feel out of it according to many sources.

Third, the reason that you can’t get the epi really close to the end of labor is because it would be pointless…it wouldn’t kick in, in time, and it would numb you needlessly afterwards, until removed (not to mention it wouldn’t be worth the cost if it wasn’t effective!) Epidurals are the LEAST harmful pain med that you can take for the baby, so I definitely disagree with the “use the epidural as a last resort statement.”

This lady sounds like a total idiot! I know more than she does! First of all, yes, you should discuss you birth wishes with your practitioner before labor begins, however, if you don’t, that doesn’t mean that you’re screwed and don’t have a say in anything! Second, baby does NOT start moving in the second trimester, baby starts moving in the first trimester, it just can’t be felt by mom until the second tri.
