How long were your lamaze classes?

By pregnantnews

I start tonight and they are 2 1/2 hours long, 3 sessions.
Did you find them helpful or necessary?
I mostly want to go for the experience, and the fact I would actually be able to get my husband to go somewhere outside the house with me, I think it’ll be fun!

I don’t remember how long they were because after watching the first video I walked out. LOL I had a c-section instead. Good luck!

My classes were an hour and a half but we had more sessions, I believe it all depends on the teacher, mine was a retired nurse who specialized in neo-natal, the breathing techniques were very helpful, what to expect incase of any problems, and she made sure the fathers all knew what their job was and what they were to do in all types of situations, it’s always helpful being in a room of expected mothers going through what you are, you’ll be glad you did, good luck, big hugs

I’m 36 weeks & I only took birth classes because my dr made me, not because I wanted to. They were 2 sessons on May 10 & 17, 10am-5pm. Biggest waste of my time! First of all, I was the only person there without a partner (I broke up with my bf & all my freinds & family are in a different state) & of course the teacher wanted to play 20 questions with me in front of the whole class- “Who will be there with you? Who will help take care of the baby when you come home?etc” I felt like an idiot! Most of the time was spent learning to sit in different positions in a chair! There were no breathing techniques like you see on tv. The 2nd class was mostly bathing & taking care of the baby. I’ve babysat TONS of times before so that was common sense to me. I’ve heard other people say that no matter how many classes you take, you forget everythign & it just happens naturally.

4-5 hours for 4 Sundays…

it was fun but I forgot the breathing exercises when I was forced to give birth naturally!!! That sucked!!!

It was a nice experience and they can answer all your question. They also tell the guys what we are going through. So they don’t think we are exaggerating!!!
