Lamaze classes… when should I start, where do I sign up for them, how much do they cost?
ByI’m 34 weeks along with my first and wondering when a good time is to get into Lamaze classes is?
I live in USA and was wondering how much they cost and where I can sign up for some. (I’m planing a hospital birth by the way)
Do they even help with the birth as much as they say?
Should my husband be there with me?
Any advice would be nice.

call your local hospital. they usually have classes. price range is different everywhere..but you’d better call asap, all the classes might be full by now. they usually fill up really fast. if you can’t get into one at the hospital, call your doctor. they’ll usually know a few places that could help you out.

I thought you were supposed to start taking those in the 7th month. You can sign up at the hospital. I don’t know for sure though I’m not taking any classes.

You dont need them, honest! Me and my wife went through the WHOLE pregnancy together, and everything was fine, the nurse at the Hospital will show you how to change a diaper if thats what your worried about.

We never took any classes before having our kids, we kinda felt it was unnecessary, kind of a placebo for childbirth pain
but
hey that was us!

Ask your doctor. They are usually sponsored by the hospital that you are planning to give birth in and do not cost much, like about $40 or so for 8 classes. You usually go at about 30 weeks to start. THey did not help me at all, just to help prepare for the birth-yes, but the breathing technique did not help me with the pain!! Your husband should go so he knows what to expect, in my class there were 8 couples and all the husbands were there too. Call your hospital for more info.

Your hospital will probably offer ‘birth class.’ I would suggest going. I work in med. field and still learned some good things. I think it might be a bit on the late side for you, but they sometimes do weekend seminars. Call your hospital or OB’s office, they should have a list of places. Best Wishes!

When I was pregnant with our first we started our classes around 30wks. That’s so that you have time to fully finish before your risk for preterm labor kicks in so get on it now! Ours were for 6wks, but jsut one day a week. You need your hubby or your labor support person there because there are things you will be coached through together and they need to know what their role is in the birth. As for the cost, it varies, but ours was like I want to say $90 but I don’t remember(it was 6 yrs ago) Your hospital that you plan to deliver at probably either offers classes or at least has a list of where to go for classes. I personally don’t think the classes helped THAT much, but it does help some and any time you can put off getting the epidural is to your benefit because if you get it too early before REAL pain sets in it hurts like heck and it wears off when you need it the most(nearing the end of labor and before the pushing stage)
