am thinking about going natural with my first baby.?
ByAm due in January with my first baby it’s a boy. I am thinking about having a natural childbirth mainly because am terrified on what may go wrong if I get an epidural am scared that i’ll be paralized if I move when they insert the needle in my back. Did anybody have a natural childbirth with their first baby? how’d u handle the pain and was it worth it thnks.

All i can say is that my mother had 3 natural childbirths, then the last 2 were with an epidural, and she said she would never do natural again, if given the choice.
She asked me if I was going to have an epidural with mine, and I told her that it was a must… she just said “thank goodness”.

i went to an antenatal class the other day and so many people was scared about back problems with the epidural but you cannot get paralized of an epidural it can cause back pain if they pierce the sack surrounding or if they touch the disks but the midwife that was taking the classed assured me whatever the side effects of an epidural becoming paralized is not one

well,I don’t have any babies.I am the oldest of 7 and my mom had 1 epidural. I wouldn’t advise getting an epidural because you can’t feel when to push correctly.Just get the regular meds, and try other coping methods.Dims lights, relaxing music, and a good support person. You can try the exercise ball and walking also to help the baby move down faster. My mom always waited a little before going to the hospital when her water broke. Take a shower and change into comfortable clothing, walk around for a little while and then go to the hospital. Some hospitals won’t let you try alternative methods so ask beforehand. Good LUCK!!!!

i had my first all natural and planning on doing the same with our second (due beginning of october)…i am still worrisome of the epidural, but because i am scared of needles…..i found the experience to be wonderful and loved that i was not needing to have any meds wear off after……do the best you can, you will know what you can handle!! all the best!

I went natural with my first child. It sucked. I had my husband by my side and I just kept squeezing his hand until it was all done with. I am pregnant with my second baby and trying to decide if I want to go through the pain of natural birth again.

If there was such a high risk of back pain the doctors wouldn’t allow women to have it..
My mam had the epidural on all 3 of her children and my auntie had it on her 2, and there was nothing wrong with neither of them or the babies, now i’m having a baby in 8 weeks and i don’t want to have the epidural but i will probably end up getting it.
I had to get loads of blood tests done before and then last week i had to get an anesthetic injected into my gum because i had to get a filling from the dentist, and i can tell you honestly, your mouth is more tender than your arm, and it was more pain-full getting the blood taken out of my arm than it was injecting the anesthetic into my gum, Your back is strong so You won’t feel it..
