Can I give natural childbirth?

By pregnantnews

When I was 16 I got into a car accident and had a traumatic brain injury. I was wondering if I would be able to give natural childbirth with having that in my past. I was told by one dr that it was not safe because it would put me at higher risk of having a brain aneurysm. I wanted to know if anyone else knew anything about this or have personally dealt with this? I have had a c-section before but I would love to give birth naturally if it possible and does not put me at a higher risk of something going wrong.

You doctor would be the best one to give you advise on this. Since you’ve previously had a c-section, it is usually best to have a c-section with subsequent pregnancies.

This is really something you should be discussing with your doctor, not a bunch of strangers. Nobody here can know your medical past, and this is a rare situation.

This isn’t a common occurance. I think you will find that not too many, if any people will be able to answer this with experience. I would talk to your DR about it to be positive.

Without knowing your specific medical situation, nobody can possibly speculate. This would be something to discuss with your OB AND your nerologist. Then you’d weigh the risks and benefits and make your own decision.

Don’t take a risk like that. Go with what your doctor advises.

Since you’ve already had a c-section you’re at risk of complications anyway. In a case like yours it’s really best to follow your doctor’s advice. When it comes right down to it the most important thing is having a safe delivery and a healthy baby. If that means changing your birth plan from what you feel is ‘ideal’ then that’s just what it is.
I had a c-section with my twins because it was the safest course of action. It’s not exactly what I wanted, but I realized that the birth was less about me and more about having healthy babies.
