Help natural birth tips?
ByI need tips on pain management and everything to do with natural childbirth. I want to start preparing myself. It isn’t about being a tough woman for me. I just think that this is how I want it to be. I’m birthing in a birth center inside a hospital so I’m as safe as any birth but I want as few interventions as possible, I especially don’t want meds. I haven’t had so much as tylenol in 9 months so why start now? My body was made for this. What worked for you?

Honestly hun, if you can take the pain, more power to you. A lot of woman have and some haven’t, so don’t be afraid nor ashamed if you need to take medication.
You can try a hot shower, walking around in the hallways warm bags on your stomach, but honestly, its nothing like cramps. It’s like 20 times worse. I know I was hurting completely, but at the same time I was a lot younger. There’s no telling how much pain I could tolerate now. Just try what methods they provide you, but like I said, do not, do not be ashamed or feel less of a woman if you need a shot. It’s actually a lot better. And to me, less stress on the body.

I had three of my four children with absolutely nothing at all – not even Tylenol for the contractions! I had an epidural with the first one and had too many problems afterward so I decided I’d do it without ANYTHING with the rest of them. It was definitely painful, but it was worth it to me not to have to go through the after-effects that I went through with the first one. I also believe that doing it completely naturally helped me have shorter labors. None of my labors were long but I believe that my first one was prolonged by the epidural and I know that the recovery was longer with that one.

I just had a baby 16 days ago. I was handeling it really well and didnt feel i needed pain relief but the midwives were extremely pushy, i said no to a pethadine shot like 5 times but in the end i really didnt care so i gave in to their persistance. the needle hurt so bad and did NOTHING for the pain, just made me feel off my face! when i was getting realllly close to pushing they gave me the gas which was wonderful. I know your planning on doing it drug free if you can but if you do feel as though you need something im just recommending you dont get the pethadine!
goodluck and dont let the midwives push you into anything unless you feel you need it.

it’s actually not as hard as i thought. It hurts like hell but it’s not critical pain of death and misery. What worked for me was having the people I loved the most right next to me. my mom and boyfriend were in the room with me right next to me and that’s all I needed. Encouragement will make the pain reduce so much, you don’t even realize.
