How to prepare yourself for a natural childbirth?

By pregnantnews

My husband and I have been talking about having a baby. I would really love to deliver completely natural, and I would like some advise on how to prepare myself and my body.

Take some childbirth classes. I took the Bradley Method class, which focuses on husband coaching and relaxation, and working with your body. I did really well during labor. you should be able to find an instructor in your area. Also start doing kegal exercises. Good luck!

I also went to Bradley classes; they really helped me prepare both mentally and physically. Do some research, find what will work best for you. Good luck!

I had 2 natural births and they have both been fantastic. I did a lot of swimming, lots of squatting and I cleaned the floors on my hands and knees from when I was 8 months on as this gets the baby in the right position, head down and with it’s spine facing out towards my belly (I think it’s called anterior) its the best position for giving birth. I thought about what helped me when I am sick, etc which is having a bath – I find water very soothing so I used it in labour. I went into the labour with a open mind and was prepared for any changes that I might have to make if there’s complications. I also was armed with knowledge I read heaps! The 2 natural births beat my 1st birth, using pethidine hands down. I am pregnant with my 4th and I will definitely go for natural again.

Honey, when the the labor pains start there is nothing that is going to help you except scream. I did all that, but my babies birth weight was over 9 1/2 pounds and they have big heads. Should I go on. all I”m saying is to be prepared to rip your husband’s head off during the delivery. Once you go into heavy labor is to late for the drugs. Good luck!!!!

you can do exersise dispite what many say exersise is good in pregnancy when you do it wisely and do the ones that will benifit your body without effecting your baby, the best hing for labour is to keep your body strong and streangthen your muscles which are weak and realxed in pregnancy, alsosoftening your perinium in the third trimester will help it tp strech and prevent it from tearing or having to be cut, the best thing is to keep yourself informed on the different ways to give birth, most hospitals they want you to lay on your back and push but that is unatural, squating or kneeling takes alot of pressure off your body, finding these things out will help you give birth easier and prevent you from needing drugs, i am having a water birth at home with a mid wife, good luck to you but remember dont be disapointed is you do end up needing drugs or a c section, as long as your little one is safe and healthy (you too) that is the main goal to achieve :)
