I’m all for bringing a new life into this world without getting all hopped up on the drugs being fed to him, but think about this, have you ever seen a video of a woman giving childbirth? That is normally with drugs, do you want to go through that intense pain without drugs?
Of course this is your choice, I vote for natural childbirth, I was just saying that it is gonna hurt extremely.
Naturally giving birth is still the way to deliver a baby according to my friends. Because the more it is painful the more you will feel you are mother. Besides, after all when you see you baby, it is really worth it.
1st time, i just wanted to be aware of what was happening
i did not attend classes i just went for it
when i had my baby, all was well, labour was all it should have been
the end of a journey to meet my baby
a girl in the bed opposite had drugs(legal medical drugs), she was in a state, they had to take the baby for 24 hours, i was so glad i did it naturally
2nd baby, i attended classes, and was so glad i did
i used to think “breathing?” “i breathe all the time, what can they teach me?”
but they did and it helped enormously
3rd time there was no question
prepare before hand, and you will have a wonderful experience
I think the best way to do this, is to wait until you actually go into labor. As labor progresses you can than decide if it has become to much for you or if you think you can do it.
Ok, since I didn’t see anyone else post about this from PERSONAL experience, I will (sorry if someone has by the time this is up).
I went through childbirth totally naturally (or at least as natural as allowed by a freaking hospital because we have no midwives within driving distance here, so I had an IV in, just in case, but with nothing coming through it). It’s really NOT that bad. Yeah, sure, it hurt for a few minutes, big deal. Do NOT listen to the idiots who have NOT given birth themselves who try to tell you how terrible it is (I had tons of people like that while I was pregnant). Get on youtube and look for homebirths and water births if you want to see natural birth. THOSE are natural. I’ve actual talked to one of the women who posted a video on there. I think her screen name was something like “Aspiringmidwife” or something like that, and she had a water birth.
My labor was long. It was something like 70 hours or so, but for the first 45 or 50, I didn’t even know for sure that I was in labor. I was having contractions, but I couldn’t feel them. I didn’t even know I was contracting until I got to 3cm, and then I just thought they were Braxton Hicks contractions. The only part that was actually painful, and not just somewhat uncomfortable, was transitional labor. When I went from 8.5-10cm, I was in pain. It lasted about 5-10 minutes, and then it stopped completely. When I was pushing, there was some discomfort, but the pressure of the baby’s head coming down numbs you down there, so you really don’t feel it very much. I had a mild tear and needed a couple of stitches and didn’t feel a thing. I pushed about 5 times (somewhere around 3-5 minutes) and that was that.
My point is this: If YOU want to do it, give it a shot. Don’t let anyone talk you out of it. BUT, do not decide that you will not take anything. Decide that when you are in labor. Just decide beforehand that you are going to try, and that you’ll go as long as you possibly can without drugs. While you’re in labor, just keep reminding yourself that your body was built for this and that you can do it. If it does come to a point that you are in pain and don’t want to continue without drugs, it’s ok. You aren’t a failure for it and you gave it your best shot.
i think going as natural as you can is a good idea.
i think it’s also a good idea to have pain relief and medical fasilities on standby should you need/want them at the time.
mid-labour we tend to change our minds as thats when we really find out what labour is like. I wanted all the drugs under the sun… but then during labour i realised i was doing just fine going natural, so had a natural birth instead.

That’s my plan too unless I have to get a c-section. Good luck!

that is the best way to childbirth. If you have no problems with your health and the baby is coming the right way you should definitelly do natural.
