Ladies who have had natural childbirth?
ByI am carrying a baby girl and she is due on October 4th. I was just trying to decide if I want to have her natural or with meds. I really wanna have natural childbirth because it would be healthier for the baby and I am usually pretty tolerable with pain. I was just wondering, what was it like for you mommies who have had natural childbirth? Also, what tips could you give me to help with the pain (besides medication)?
I was watching one of those Discovery Health shows and the lady said that moving around made the pain a little bit more bearable.

i had natural birth with my son. i was in hard labor for 14 hours. i found that the best thing was first off my husband who was amazing during the process, and second the exercise ball…..just sitting on that made the pain so much more tolerable….i walked around a lot as well…it does help to get up and move…good luck to you! i know you can do it, women were built for this pain without meds!!!! and for all those people that say labor is more enjoyable because they could relax with the pain meds, i found mine enjoyable because of how proud i was of myself for not using anything…

My daughter was in a posterior position so I had horrible back labour. I stood in the shower with very warm water on my back for HOURS but the midwife told me that a lot of women do that even when they don’t have back labour. Also, when I had contractions I would wrap my arms around my partners neck and stretch my back out and breathe in and out as deeply as I could, that really helped to.
The midwife tried to get me to move around and tried getting me into all these different positions. It just didn’t work for me, once I was comfortable I didn’t want to move.

i was lucky enough to just have a tens machine (small electro pulses) and gas and air for both my children. I was very calm and took each contraction at a time, trying to convince myself that it would soon be over. But i say lucky enough, because no matter how much you think you can plan on what is going to happen, you can never really control it on the day. I would advise you concentrate on keeping yourself and your baby safe and healthy during birth. Go with the advise of the doctors and midwives and make things as easy as possible for both you and your baby. there are no medals rewarded to those who have no drugs or to those who end up having to have a full block or a section, so please don’t feel a failure if you need more help, and although we all want a natural childbirth with as few meds as possible please reassure yourself that whatever they use to help you or baby, has been tried and tested and is totally safe.
Hope it all goes well for you x

hi, first of all congratulations and lots of luck for october! my sister is due 2 days after you, and im due next march for number 2. Just to let you know on the day i had my son, i was trying my best to have a natural childbirth, i was worried about my baby being affected by the drugs etc, the way it turned out, im not as tough as i thought and ended up asking for the epidural, it was a godsend, and all went very well afterwards and we now have a healthy happy 2 year old. My point it, whatever happens, you will be in good hands, dont worry if you do need the pain relief, it is not at all dangerous for the baby, and you wont be letting her down in any way! if you manage to do it without, good on you, either way the most important thing is that you relax as much as possible, and let nature take its course, you will be just fine! dont set yourself standards that you will worry about breaking….
goooood luck, take care and enjoy the most fulfilling adventure life has to offer! xxx
p.s tips i remember were to try to think positively about each contraction that its bringing you closer to your baby, get your breathing right, and most importantly dont worry, it does end!!! x

ok so I had my daugther last year no medicine. Becuase I didnt want medicine I spent most of my labor at home in the peace and queit away from the hospital distractions. By the time I went to the hospital at 5 am I had been in labor since 6pm the previous day. It REALLY helped to be able to be at home in pain of course you dont want to wait to long and have the baby in the house! everytime I had a contraction I just closed my eyes grabed the railing of the bed REALLY hard and just took deep breaths in and out while I said in my head “breath in, breathe out” and after 60 some seconds it was over. seriously labor is not THAT painful its just long.
for me moving around- definatly not. I couldnt walk during a contraction and when it wasnt a contraction I was so exhausted I didnt want to walk! ha.
GOOD LUCK and seriously if you want natural you can do it.

You can absolutely do it! (bar a medical condition or emergency of course) This is what your body was designed to do.
I gave birth to my son med-free after a 25 hour labor. My very best advice to you is to stay home during labor, as long as you possibly can before heading to the hospital. You can labor at your own pace at home. Once at the hospital, you’ll feel more like you’re being clocked. I stayed home for 22 hours, and was only at the hospital 3 before my son was born.
With a natural labor you can sit in the jacuzzi tub, walk around, sit on the birthing ball, try different pushing positions, do things that are helpful to you and your labor — rather than laying flat on your back. You can also feel when to push. Just because you’re at 10 centimeters and the doctor is saying you can push, doesn’t mean your body is ready. Your body will actually do the work for you when it’s ready.
I highly recommend the book “Birthing from within” by Pam England, in preparing for a natural birth. Other than that, surround yourself with support and positive, empowering stories — those things helped me the most.
Good luck to you! You can do it!

I don’t know why if people have drugs to help relive pain people say it’s not natural my baby still came out of my vagina …. Should be drug free not. Natural I only had gas so still felt every thing most woman can tolerate but somewithout drugs get an edge to push this is bad as it can swell the cervix and delay gl I’m also due October but 6
