Moms- did you have a natural childbirth? Epidural?

By pregnantnews

Please share as I’m really interested to know what other women opted for and their experiences during labor. I’m not due for several months, so I’m just trying to gather any input I can. Thanks!

Epidural all the way…

I had a epuidural with my first two, with my third, I had no option as I had to have a c-section. I am now pregnant with my 4th and my plan is to try to go natural for as long as possible. Good Luck to you :)

I had a vaginal delivery with an epidural for both my pregnancies. It was wonderful! I didn’t feel ANY pain and the doctor had to tell me when to push because I couldn’t feel the contractions. I did have alot of pressure in my bottom but NO pain. I recommend an epidural to any woman having a vaginal delivery!

With my first I had a demerol shot but only so that I could get some sleep (I was in labor for 25 hours). My second was completely natural and weighed in at 10 lbs, 4 oz. My third was an emergency c-section at 38 weeks because the placenta had begun to seperate from the uterus. My fourth will be delivered by scheduled c-section because my hospital is not equiped for vbacs. My most memorable was definately the natural childbirth even though she was ten pounds, the pain wasn’t nearly as bad as recovering from a c-section!

I wanted to go natural, but I had to be induced and contractions were so strong that I had to get the epidural and I’m so happy I did. We ended up having complications and I don’t know how I could have handled the stress while I was still in horrific pain. I had to get stuck twice for the epidural, they couldn’t get the placement right the first time, but that was nothing compared to the contractions! I’m just happy I was able to be clear headed enough to follow the doctor’s directions and help my baby. After is was all over the doctor told me he was so relieved I “didn’t make things harder on myself” and got the epidural b/c the baby was twisted funny in there and it took a lot of twisting and pulling to get him out…I’m sure that would have been excruciating! I personally always recommend the epidural now, but if you want to try to go natural then more power to you. The contractions shouldn’t be as severe if you go into labor on your own (not that they’ll be pleasant), but the pitocin really makes them rough! Good luck!!!

With my first child, I got the epidural and life was great! labor was a breeze. With my second child, I got the epidural, but it was too late, and it didn’t have time to work. Labor was very hard for me! So this time, I am getting the epidural as soon as I walk through the door!!

with my first son I had an epidural at 7 cm dialated I tried to go all natural but the pain was so intence then I ended up being over dosed on the epidural.

now with my second I plan to have a natural childbirth but I have been put on the list for an epidural just in case that I need it .

well i had a epidural with my first baby and it worked for about thirty minutes and it was GREAT! no pain at all! but it wore off after about 30 minutes and i thought i was going to die! lol but i didnt and the pain is gone immediately afterwards. But i am hoping to have one that actually works with this pregnancy. I am 33 weeks right now. so we will see… lol congrats and good luck!

EPIDURAL!!!!! When i had my daughter i actually had 2 because the first cathter fell out so had to have it redone….personally i think that it comes in handy because during labor will tire you out! I was in labor for 32 hours and was so exosted before i even had to start pushing.

1ST- epidural as soon as I got to the hospital. I felt nothing at all the whole time.
2nd- all natural due to baby’s heart condition. Extremely painful…but well worth it.
This one- epidural ( having c-section )

Before I went to the hospital I said I would really try to go with out drug as long as I could take it but if I wanted an epidural no one was stopping me. I was induced and after a few hours the pain did start to increase. Not to a point I couldn’t bare it but the doctor said the epidural wouldn’t show effects right away so I didn’t want to see how much worse the pain was going to get so I pushed the little red nurse button and I felt better. The only down side was it was kinda boring after that until pushing started since I couldn’t get out of bed due to not feeling my legs. The pain did come back pretty strong and I got a second dose and everything was fine. Checked in to be induced at 6am and gave birth at 4:53pm. My daughters father really tried to TELL me that I wasn’t having any drug because he said so and I said last time I checked this was my body and not yours so back off bub….All I have to say is ask your doctor any questions you want about any of the methods to relieve pain and base YOUR decission on that. Ultimately you might even change your mind when the time comes so Congrats and Good Luck

I had a c-sec with my first. By far the hardest recovery of any!

I had #2 with an epidural. The dr ended up turning off the epidural so I could feel where to push. IT SUCKED!!! she was 9lbs 6oz. When you do not have that “build up” in intensity, it feels 10x worse.

I had #3 without any medications at all. She was 9lbs and 2 oz and came within 45 minutes of labor starting.

I am not sure what I will do with this baby.
