Natural Child Birth?

By pregnantnews

This may sound like a dumb question but hear me through. I want to know how bad natural childbirth hurts? Can you compare it to anything or should i just prepare the most awful worst pain of my life. I have been told that it hurts but its bearable. What are your thoughts? I am not a fan of getting drugs or an epidural. thanks!!

As a birth doula and mom who has given birth naturally, I can try to answer this for you. The pain is something like this: Have you ever had horrible stomach cramps and diarrhea? Like when you are sitting on the toilet and you feel hot and sweaty from the pain? The contractions you feel in labor are like that… times 100.

Natural childbirth is the safest way to have a baby for both you and the baby. I’d suggest you take a class (with your partner) on natural childbirth and hire a doula to attend the birth with you.

every women is different we can only tell you our stories but thats not how its goning to go for you some feel hardly no pain some feel lots i know i did but i got an epidural when it got to bad Congrats and Good Luck

I’m a first time Mommy-to-be, and I have every intention of having a natural childbirth. I think I have a strong enough will power to make it through. However, I may get there and say, “OH MY GOD! Please drug me up!!” I wish you the absolute best of luck!

it hurts a lot, but it is worth it. I tried to do it naturally, got stuck at 9 cm for 2 hours and decided I needed an epidural. The epidural helped a lot, and wasn’t as scary as it sounded.

My sister told me its like a really bad period, have you ever had a period where a sudden cramp came on and it lasted for like 2 mins and you doubled up pain??

Now take that cramp and x it by 100 according to my sis shes had 4 kids all natural so it cant be that bad because she did it another 3 times natural

I think it depends on how well you tolerate pain. With my first son everyone had me scared out of my mind that it was going to hurt like I have never been hurt before. I think I must have a higher tolerance for pain because at 7 centimeters dialated I was still not in too much pain. BUT I also did my breathing techniques like suggested to help.

It hurts, but it’s so worth it! The contractions feel like menstrual cramps times 100, which to me was the worst part. The pushing part really doesn’t hurt, it actually feels good (LOL- if you could call it that) because you are concentrating on doing something instead of thinking about the pain you are in. And I didn’t really think it hurt when the baby came out either, it was just making through the contractions that was the hard part. Try it, you won’t regret it, and you will feel a HUGE sense of accomplishment. Good luck!

oh I would not be doing this natural! lol. I have started getting braxton hicks, and I can’t imagine what real labor is going to feel like.

It’s a personal choice. I am going to get the epidural but only because I am such a wuss and hate any kind of pain.

What the hell is with the thumbs down? I said natural birth was a choice, and not one for me. I could not imaging the full blown pain of labor with no drugs.

Nobody can describe what it feels like or how bad it hurts! Of course it’s bearable, how many women do you know that died of pain? So, don’t get the drugs or epidural!

it can not be compared to anything you have ever felt before…. It is pretty painfull but I still had more kids LOL didn’t use pain killers with 3 of my 4…the 4th was a c-section….. so it was a must=c)

I had two natural births (other than a little gas and air which really didn’t do much or help at all) and the pain was indescribable – because it is literally impossible to describe. But, it wasn’t worse than I had imagined and it WAS bearable. You just get through it and before you know it, your beautiful baby is here to show for it!

13

lets just say i turned into the devil and the whole hospital had to of heard my screaming. it hurt so bad. lol.the first thing i said was “i am never having another baby”

Natural child birth is different for everyone. I did it with the help of laughing gas (I guess it’s not so natural afterall?).

The pain was terrible, but I’m still alive. LOL

I think that it’s great you want to go natural, but what I believe will help you the most is to go into it with an open mind and a realistic view on pain. That way, when you are in labour and if you cannot deal with the pain, you won’t feel so dissapointed if you accept something to relieve the pain.

Good luck!

i had gas and air, morphine and an epidural. i couldn’t have done it without the gas and air or the morphine!!! contractions were reli reli painful.. i wasn’t going to have an epidural but my baby was on her side so they had to turn her.. so i ended up having to have one. so i don’t know what the pushing part feels like but my friend just had a baby and she said it was agony!!! good luck though and congrats babe! xxx

Congrats..
I went through 16 hours of labour and then ended up with a c section because me epidural slowed everything down and my labour wouldn’t progress and i almost lost my baby go drug free seriously the pain is not that bad honestly we’re women i think we are the most toughest humans on this earth plenty of women do it drug free everyday so tell yourself why cant i?? you can!

Child birth is a completely different experience for every woman. Some women (surprisingly) don’t find it very painful at all and others would rather die than go through it again. Imagine pushing a watermelon through your vagina… it’s going to be painful. But there ways of managing the pain that don’t involve a catheter and gigantic needle. Your endorphins and adrenaline will help some. And if you’re having “back labor” you could get sterile water blocks (they squirt a small needle with saline into the muscles in your lower back and it sort of numbs them– but you can still move your legs and feel everything else, unlike an epidural).

i find that very few can take it with no drugs. it hurts like h***. Honestly you never know how your body and mind is going react. I personally took the pain for as long as i can. Some people the epidural doesnt really take the pain away and some dont feel anything. If i were you i would keep an open mind an feel out the situation.

Ok first of all don’t project that birth is soo painful. Research actually shows that 1% of all women in United States experience a Painless Childbirth. That’s 45,000 per year. Now when I say painless here’s what I mean:

Pain is associated with something gone wrong, while childbirth is a natural event, with a known outcome. Even though labor can be intense, usually a contraction lasts just one minute. A woman can manage that one minute. This is not a new technique, but a shift in consciousness from “Labor is happening to me” to “My baby and I are working together towards the same joyful goal: the arrival of new life.”

Get yourself some good books on natural childbirth, Drugs during delivery will not only change your experience of the birth, but can make a huge difference in the baby.

It hurts like a sonofab!tch!!!! It really is worth it though. The worst part is the crowning. Once the head is out though, that’s it. Big sigh of relief!!!
