Natural childbirth, am I crazy?

By pregnantnews

I had a son 12 years ago and used Demerol, but I was only 16 and scared. That labor was over in about 6 hours. The second time is supposed to be easier so this time I am thinking of having a natural child birth. Am I totally crazy?

!st one i had at 18 yrs of age natural.. dont rem. much and my 2 and 3 rd. was w/ a epidoral and it was a great relieve no pain

No, but if you go with a midwife and try a waterbirth I bet you will love it. Most people say they didn’t even feel a need for further pain relief when they labored and/or gave birth in warm water. Look into it. It’s becoming more and more popular.

Nah. I am going to do all natural too. My whole family did it so I figure I can too. My Grandma did it all natural with all 6 of her kids, my Mom had 2 kids all natural and so did my aunt, 2 kids all natural. So I’m going to also…Good luck!

Having a child nnaturally is exactly what your body is designed for so how can you even think you are crazy! It is a personal choice as to how you deliver your child.

The nice thing about going natural is if the pain does get too much you can ask for an epidural!

Good luck and I am sure you will be perfect!

I am pregnant now and with my first pregnancy I had the epidural. Not only did I feel totally out of control with the pregnancy but I feel like it made me less effective in my pushing. This next pregnancy I am going to do it natural. No I don’t think you are crazy. It is a personal choice.

Good luck and congrats!

girl, quit your whining. when i had my son, i was plowing in the fields. i got off the tractor, squatted, and had my son. the womenfolk took care of him while i finished plowing the fields.

Nope, not crazy at all. I went completely natural with my first and it was a great experience – no interventions whatsoever (no IV even) and I felt very much in control and it was a very empowering experience. Just make sure you prepare for labor by taking a good class (Bradley Birth, for instance) and having lots of support around you. Good luck!

You are not crazy at all. I want a natural birth, too. Nobody has any business telling you you’re crazy for wanting this. It’s a natural, beautiful thing that women have been doing since the beginning of time. If our grandmothers and their grandmothers could do it, so can we. I think it will be healthier and happier for both you and the baby. You just need to prepare by taking classes in natural methods like the Bradley Method or hypnobirthing.

I had both my sons naturally. My first labor was 18 hours; my second was less than 2 hours.

Honestly, it wasn’t that bad. I experienced worse pain when I broke my leg in a car accident.

My mom had me naturally 20 years ago. 16 hours of labor.
She never told me how much it hurt though. She just said she was worried that the painkillers would affect me.

I have another friend that had two babies (not twins, separate births) naturally with no pain killers, and she said it wasn’t that bad, and you forget about it all at the end because you have a baby! And that’s all you’re going to care about anyway.

Good luck! Remember that historically women never had pain killers or birth control. So they had to do it over and over again with no pain killers. So of course you can.

No, I’m hoping for a natural birth! I’m willing to be flexible in case it’s more painful than I could think of now, but I believe that the pain is all part of it! I figure if I’m really struggling to cope with the pain or it’s exhausting me, I’ll try pain relief, but I hope I won’t have to! :)

Good luck!
