I am all about going as natural as possible. I have seen my sister take epidural with her 3rd birth, and she was so weird and loopy and not even aware of what was going on. She didn't take any epidural with her first 2, so I was kind of suprised when she chose an epidural for the 3rd.

I think pain is what you make it. If your going to expect the worse pain possible, then it probably is going to be the worst thing in the world. In all honesty, there are women who give birth with no pain at all (check it out at unassistedchildbirth.com). You may find something you like.

Congrats!

I hate how some people are so negative! It doesn't matter how small you are, your body was made to have babies :) There are bigger people who have had problems with their baby fitting through their pelvis. It really just depends on the particular person and their body.

If you don't want to have pain medication or an epidural, but are afraid that you might not be able to handle it, just go in there with an open mind. Try to labor naturally, but if you feel that you'd be better off with an epidural or whatever, DON'T beat yourself up over it.

Good luck!

I would say if you want a natural birth then just go with it. if the pain gets to deep to bare then you can always get the epidural but warning it does hurt and there are some risk with it. i tried to go natural but ended up getting epidural with 4 out of my 5 pregnancies. you can still get a hot spot as my mid wife called it where you only get numb on one side and can feel it on the other however i felt the pain with all of my deliveries except one with the epidural so keep some of this in mind. hope i helped you and not scared you but i just wanted to be honest with you

you don't have to make a decision now but just go into labor with the intention of not taking meds as long as you can if your hoping for a natural birth. An open mind is what is important. I just delivered my baby 8 weeks ago and wanted a natural birth (some people looked at me like I was crazy for not wanting an epidural) but ended up taking some nubain, it didn't make the pain go away it just made it more managable and I was able to rest better in between contrations. When you get to the hospital ask them about your pain management options and let them know that you will ask for it if you want it. Everything will be fine and you don't have to make a decision until you need it but it wouldn't hurt to educate yourself on your options. Also they will not give you more meds if they think you are going to deliver within 2 hours, not sure about with the epidural

i would go with the epidural - the midwife/doctor will tell u when to push as u cant feel when to push when ur using epidural

u wont feel drugged up and u may still feel some thing happening down there but just no pain

maybe ask if they can give u a small dose of epidural as u want the pain taken away but u wanna be able to still feel what is happening like when to push etc.

Do what you want. People are putting me down because I am going all natural. Its my body and my baby so I can do what I want.Same to you. Its your life AND your decision. Just ignore them. And I am the same I want to be aware of whats going on not drugged up and drowsy either.
