I thought I’d be able to give birth w/o the epidural, but I wasn’t able to relax – therefore wasn’t having much progress. I got the epidural, relaxed, and within that hour my daughter was born. Good luck with whatever you decide!

I also want to have a natural birth. A great book to read is “The Thinking Woman’s Guide to a Better Birth” by Henci Goer. It talks about all the interventions that doctors often use and discusses the pros and cons. I know it will be hard to have a natural birth, but I think it is so important to be really well prepared.
Good luck!

I know the Bradley method has a website, but I do not know the exact name. The Bradley method is true natural childbirth; with no epidural, no routine episiotomy, no electronic monitor, and you are allowed to eat during labor.
