Which do you prefer, natural childbirth or C-section?
ByDespite the pain of natural childbirth without epidural(which i’ve never experienced), I always thought C-section is scarier though, don’t know why, probably because I heard that recovery is slower process if you got a Csection, is that true? i’m ttc for my #1 so i have alot of question in my mind
) Good luck for all ttc-ers out there~and baby dust on this Xmas! ![]()

A natural childbirth is always going to be the better option if you can do it. Even though a c-section is very routine, it is still surgery and poses risks. The recovery for a c-section is longer than natural childbirth, and generally less complications.
I’ve had both and don’t have a preference actually..It’s still a very painful experience regardless, but you are rewarded with a wonderful baby!
Good luck TTC!

Thanks for the baby dust hun!! I sure could use it!! C-Sections do take longer to heal, because you have an actual cut on your stomach that has to be stitched up… while natural child birth may be painful at the time, our bodies are designed recover from the experience quickly.. I think I would prefer just doing the natural child birth with the epidural..

Well, I’ve never had a c-section- only a natural, unmedicated home birth- but I do no the stats: Natural vaginal birth is safer than a c-section. More women and babies die as a result of c-section complications than die of vaginal birth complications. Plus, there is that thing too about a much slower recovery after a c-section. I had a 26-hour labor, pushed for 8 minutes, had no tears or need for stitches, and was up walking around within an hour of giving birth. And even though I was more tired than usual and a little sore, I was pretty much back to normal by the next day.
But the fact that the US has an almost 33% c-section rate is the reason that we also have the second highest number of mother and babies die out of all industrial nations.
Good luck as you ttc!

I have 3 children so have been through childbirth a few times! With my first 2, I gave birth completely naturally with no pain relief. I won’t lie that it was extremely painful, especially pushing the head out and waiting for it to crown. I was a bit tired for a day or two but recovered very quickly and the pain was most definitely worth it when I was handed my baby. For my third, it was a long, difficult labour, and my baby was in the wrong position, so i was given a C-section. I was scared and definitely preffered my natural births. I still have a scar, 4 years later, and am concious of it when I wear a bikini. If you can give birth naturally, go for it! It is such a reward and great feeling when you get to hold your baby. As soon as the baby is out there is no pain and you forget the pain seeing your child.

C-section is worse. But don’t worry, since it’s your first you can’t even get a c-section unless it’s an emergency.

I used to think a c-section would be easier. But, now that i am older and know people who have babies i would definitely try natural child birth. I heard that c-sections can take longer to heal and than your left with a scar.

Well…i’ve only had one child and I did a vaginal birth with no medication. I think that a C-Section should be preformed only as a last resort and/or for the benefit of the mother/child.
And yes, recovery time is slower because a c-section is considered major surgery.

I am definitely leaning towards natural. I would never have a C-section unless absolutely necessary. It has a longer recovery time, and I would prefer not to have a scar on my stomach for the rest of my life! I am also terrified of needles. Have you heard about water birth? I’ve been doing a little reading and I’m definitely going to discuss with my doctor whenever I do get pregnant. It sounds like it helps a lot for those who decide to go all natural.
Lots of baby dust to you! I hope this is our month!

Have you ever heard of an episiotomy? I think I’d rather have a c-section, hands down.
My mom had all four of her children naturally, two in hospitals, two in a hot tub at home. My sister kept the tradition alive and chose natural water birth when she had her son last year. I do NOT want an epidural but I don’t know if I could handle a %100 natural birth
