Look for a doula in your area. Every doula that I’ve looked into in my area also offers childbirthing classes. You just wouldn’t know it until you actually looked into their services.
Good luck and congrats!

I took a prepared childbirth class with my first child. It did really help me – this class gave breathing exercises but also gave you tools for different methods. I called the hospital and they had one available there.
Check how long the class at the hospital is, they usually offer different kinds. I liked going for 6weeks, an hour at a time. This way you could practice and have it fresher in your mind as birth gets closer. Otherwise they usually offer a full day class on a weekend.
GOOD LUCK and CONGRATS!!

I’m sorry, I did not take any classes 4 my other 2.
Pretty much what they r going 2 tell u is 2 focus on something during any contraction-2 make sure u always breathe. If u hold your breath, your baby gets no oxygen . Remember always have a Focal Point. I held my breath with my first.
Sorry I couldn’t help u more.

Everyone I have talked to said the classes weren’t worth the time. We ended up not going either, but found out that you can even just contact your local hospital to borrow birthing videos. That may help out no matter what you decide.
From my personal experience we did not take a class and we were absolutely fine. The last thing you want to worry about during birth is what you were TOLD to do. Each experience is different and no class can really prepare you for it.

Ask your doctor if he or she knows of any classes. Try calling ymca and see if they offer classes. Look in your local news paper. Try yellowpages.com and type in lamaze classes. Good luck

In the UK we don’t have lamaze. Just classes run by people who have already had babies or run by the hospital. I didn’t have any classes with my first child but was pretty much guided by my midwife and what I had read in books and magazines. Try not to panic too much as women have been having babies for years without the need for classes. Your body will know what to do and you just have to stay calm and focus on what your body is doing. Deep breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth really helps. breathing through the pain instead of tensing but nobody ever taught me I just did it and it worked for me. I went on to have classes with my second but they only showed you how different positions help and no breathing techniques. I have had five kids (one was stillborn) and managed fine by just listening to my body. I am sure you can too hun.

I took Prepared Childbirth classes, Lamaze and Breastfeeding. I loved the classes. I learned a lot and they really helped to prepare me for what might happen. I guess I was about 7 months along when I took the classes.

I used the Bradley method with all four of mine. Lamaze and Bradley method are totally different. Lamaze concentrates on breathing and distractions from the pain. With Lamaze you do all the procedures of anyone else who has not had classes.
With the Bradley method you concentrate on totally relaxing every muscle in your body. It is natural childbirth; you are allowed to eat during labor, and you do not have an electronic monitor or a routine episiotomy. I know a lot of hospitals here in Indiana will not allow natural childbirth with the Bradley method. The Bradley method has less than a 5% c-sec rate and over 90% of those who use it do not need pain medication. The total relaxation works to prevent uterine cramps, which causes most of the severe pain during labor. You can get the book, Natural Childbirth the Bradley Way, which explains it and even contains the exercises you need to practice. I started practicing in my fourth month.
