Breach Water Birth at Home
By
A blissful experience, but hard to achieve with the attention of medical authorities pressuring us to have an elective cesarean. Common sense won out and by trusting in birth, and my body, our baby came into the world in a loving, peaceful, safe, and joyful environment.

Its seems like medical professionals are WAY to quick to order a cesarean, when the baby could easily be delivered vaginally.

Beautiful birth. Was this a free birth or midwife attended?

Toni Childs from her album The Woman’s Boat.

It was a little scary watching the baby’s body dangling there under the water. Glad it went so well.

Just lovely.
I would like to try a water birth myself, it looks so much more relaxing and it would be a smoother transition for the baby too.
Congratulations on your beautiful daughter!

Hi and please don’t feel the need to panic! Just be informed – Maggie Banks book is great. Yes we had two midwives present at the birth – both wonderful women who let me birth my baby how nature intended.

This is fantastic – thank you. It is POSSIBLE and perfect. Baby number 3 is due in 8 weeks and currently breech. Both other were head down from 28 weeks so have been panicking.
Did you have an Independent Midwife?
Congratulations

thanks for posting this – my sister is expecting her baby soon and he’s breech – hoping he will turn – right now according to the “rules” he can’t be born vaginally (because he’s breech) – and can’t have c/sec (due to anterior placenta), nor be moved via external version (same reason). Well… baby’s got to get out somehow! My last three were waterbirths – last two were waterbirths at home – i think it’s a shame more women don’t have their baby this way – it is so much more easy and peaceful.

she was number 3

That was beautiful to watch – had a tear in my eye at the end (joyful tear). I myself have had two breach babies but they were very premature so the experience was very different from watching this, numerous doctors etc etc and not very calming at all! I always hoped to have a waterbirth. Congratulations on your lovely family xxx

This is an amazing video. Thank you so much for sharing it.
Very beautiful!!!
I just had a baby myself. (a little boy – on October 24) Our planned home birth didn’t work out, though because of missing contractions.
Congratulations on your baby girl.
By the way, my mom was breach, too when she was born and my grandmother had her at home, too.
This made it even more special for me to watch.

Hi and thanks – 17 months later and we’re still riding the high of this beautiful birth. The songs are by Toni Childs from her Woman’s Boat album – the first is Womb, the second is Welcome to the World, although my editing didn’t quite get the timing right!!

WOW! I am in tears, that was amazing. I am seriously considering a home birth and have several reservations, one of which being “what if the baby is breech”. Your video was amazing and beautiful and truly inspiring! A beautiful way to start a new life!

Jusst perfect! What a fantastic job your body did birthing your baby girl!
Can I ask what the song is you used for your clip?
Congratulations!!

Absolutely right! It is very important to ensure the water temperature is as similar to body temperature as possible. This minimises the startling reflex just as much as the ‘hands off the breech’ policy does. As you can see, the baby is nicely flexed and the cord is plump and pumping the whole time. The midwives kept a very close eye on the health of the cord and the colour of the baby’s skin. I trusted their expertise and they trust my body to do the right thing.

Thank you for sharing!
I am wondering….does the use of warm water provide protection against the infant accidentally being stimulated to breathe while still in the birth canal? If this is true, then would this make water birth safer for breech babies?
