Curious about water birth?

By pregnantnews

I am kind of considering a natural birth for several reasons, so i was just wondering, do water births hurt less? Are you as likely to tear? And If you’ve had one, what was it like…?

Thanks for the feedback.

well im pregnant with my first child and wish that i could have a water birth. but i watch the water births on shows like “a baby story” on tlc and they dont seem to hurt to much less. what it really does is the water helps you deal more with the pain. i hope you can do it though. Good luck

I was scheduled for a water birth until I found that I have to have a c-section :(

But my good friend had two water births, and my sister was scheduled for one too. My friend said it really takes the pressure off the body to be under water, and it’s known for being very kind on the perineum. That would, I guess, convert to less pain, but I don’t think it impacts the contractions so much, other than to be a good temperature. They keep it really warm in there!

The warm water is known as “nature’s epidural” It relaxes your muscles, and soothes the pain up to a certain extent. (not much, but still helps) It is usually beneficial to go this way.
