Pros, cons, and information about water birth?
ByMy wife wants to have a water birth. I am a bit clueless about it, I love to hear as much information as possible. Also, what are some pros and cons? (if there are any cons to it)
thanks.

i wanted to have a water birth soo bad, but they are not available in my hospital
pros:relaxing environment for mother and baby, may ease the pain of labor just a bit, and they can be done at home with a midwife
idk about the cons since ive never had one, but if she starts one and dosent like it, she can always just get out.

Very beneficial. Very relaxing for the laboring mother, helps ease the pain, and is a much more gentle transition for baby at birth.

personally – id stay away from it… what if she needs an episotomy tearing can hurt so much… I had an 8lbs+ baby and he wouldnt fit they had to do an episotomy… i thought i was gona die from pushing for 4hrs and finally when the doc. cut me it was such a relief and he flew out… i wish they cut me sooner. anyway she must be a very brave person to do that. i would never even think about having a water birth after what i went trough.. i want all painkillers etc… now if this was 100s of yrs ago when we didnt have any painkillers for giving birth i would probably opt for a water birth. but not in today s world. Ive seen two water births on tv and they were srcreaming like hell… i really dont think its any easier…but of course you dont know until you have one. whatever her decision i wish you guys luck .
