It costs a lot because they have to drain the pool afterwards.

i’ve heard about that too, it’s interesting to me, i’m not sure how much it costs, but i heard it is much more comfortable than regular delivery… good luck :)

Nothing. But isee where you are coming from. Ask at your local swimming baths.

that sounds cool but I don’t know the answer to your question…

I’ve seen it done in a paddling pool in the living room. I don’t know how much the pool costs but the water is just warm tap water.

It depends on whether you are going to a hospital, birth center, or staying at home. Here is a great resource website: http://www.waterbirth.org/mc/page.do. The costs will definitely vary, ask your local hospitals or birth centers (birth centers are usually less expensive) for their rates.

Congratulations! Good for you for being open to new innovations in childbirth.

Depending on whether or not your insurance will cover the cost of the midwife and how much the midwife charges it will depend.
It may or may not be more expensive then a hospital birth.
There are plenty of midwives in the world, why not call around.

It depends whee you are. I live in England and it is free because of the NHS.

my cousin is gonna do it later this month. I’m not sure what its going to cost her but I think its around $3000…much cheaper than a hospital birth. she’s having a midwife. I’ve witnessed birth in both situations, and I actually think the home birth went a lot better….but that’s just me. good luck.

Not very sure. But i think its not good to give birth underwater as you might get infected easily. Unless you have a very healthy body, then maybe you can ahead. Because in water, you can get a lot of buoyancy back support. But i also think it is natural to give birth on land, as God design us this way. I hope this help, with Best Regard.

An old TV show -”One Day at A Time”-a sit com did an episode on birth in a hottub. If I remember the hottub temp is brought to the mother’s internal temp-the baby doesn’t know the difference of the water or the mother. Because the baby is still connected to the Mother though the placenta, he/she is still receiving oxygen.

This is something you will want to check with your doctor about-as I am sure there are certain risks. For example when my oldest was born-my water broke and they didn’t want me in water because of risk of infection to the baby. Also equipment used to monitor the baby’s heart rate, (which lets us know of potential problems) cannot be used, at least not as easily.

The main thing is you want a safe birth for both you and your child.

Depends…
My sister in law went to a hospital that had a labor tub so it didn’t cost anything. You can also buy or rent them.

And no, the baby will not drown-he/she does not take first breath until out of the mother and the air touches their skin. If the baby does fall back in the water after being exposed to the air, then yes there is a chance of aspirating water.
