i’m praying i can find a location to have a safe water birth. i’ve been speaking with doctors, but it seems a midwife isthe best route for water births (?)

when I have children I intend on at the very least having a water birth in hospital, but i prefer to have one at home. Thanks for the information!

midwives are excellent resources to assist in water births. Sometimes you can work with a birthing center where there are midwives or you can find a medical practice affiliated with a hospital that is also affiliated with midwives. More and more practices are expanding their practices to include the use of midwifes and alternative birth methods. They are the more progressive practives. In this instance, a medical DR. is on call for the labor and the midwives assist in the delivery.

This is the type of information that people need as a resource for themselves (and in my case) for loved ones who are not sure of the mother’s choice of a water birth. I am opting for a home water birth. This way I will be assured a waterbirth (many hospitals only have 1 waterbirth station if any) AND I will be able to have the least amount of unnecessary intervention possible!

Yes, midwife is the best source of any information and help you might need. I’m currently pregnant with my first child and I want to have a home water birth. My midwife reassured me about everything and gave me all details for pools and possibilities to have it either at home or at the midwifery unit. She suggested that home is better. She has delivered a lot of babies at home and doen a few water births. Also had one of hers at home. So ask yours and she’ll tell you all you need
