Water birth question to all who have had a water birth!?

By pregnantnews

So when you are pushing in labor, it is common for the woman to push out a little bit of poop (for lack of a better word)
When you are in a water birth, isn’t it unsanitary for you to push out poop into the water that your baby will soon born into. Poop is all the toxins, its completely unsanitary for your baby to be born into the same tub that you pooped into….even if you do fish the poop out.

My question is do you just try and get every bit of if out before you get in the water….or what

Oh yes please fill me in on all the pros and cons of water birth. Why you liked it, why you didn’t like it…you know…..

Only answer if you have gave birth in water, or you have assisted in a water birth!

He is messing with your head girl.I would never under these circumstances regardless if he’s the Daddy to have his name to be given to your son if you have a boy.I would be livid that he’d have enough guts to be playing with your head while carrying his kid like this. He’s not worth it in my eyes. It’s only harder because you did have a once upon a time relationship but it was never healthy if you were always off and on to begin with.If I were you, have this baby, you give whatever name is good for you not him.Even if he comes around for the kids’ sake which btw most bad relationships they still do but he wants nothing to do with your pregnancy and shows no interest.I would make sure if I was in your shoes which I had once been there to give your baby your last name too.My ex never owned up to being a real Dad to his daughter and always into trouble,I did give her his last name and I recently about 8-9 months ago now changed her last name to mine because he wasn’t worthy to have his last name.Be smart and if and that’s a big if,that could change in the future if he decides to grow up and take care of his family then maybe change it down the road but only if you get married. You don’t need his permission for the name to be what you want it to be,it’s all up to the mother. You can get better than him anyways. You are younger but the more mature one as far as I can say.Good luck!! :)

There are many websites and books that will tell you the pros and cons of waterbirth. Barbara Harper has an excellent book with DVD. It’s called “Gentle Birth Choices” and you can get it at most Borders or order it from Amazon.

Now, as far as “pushing”……with most of the waterbirths I have assisted in….mom isn’t pushing while someone counts to ten. She is simply laboring in the water and baby gently makes his/her way down the birth canal and is out! Pushing out fecal matter usually occurs when mom is doing the old “in the bed, on the back, legs in stirrups, pushing as hard as possible for 10 seconds” routine. This isn’t to say that some fecal matter doesn’t come out in a water birth; it occasionally does and we use a “kiddie pool strainer” or the little net thing you clean your aquarium with to remove it. I know it may sound kind of gross, but this is in the hospital setting and believe me, our Infection Control department was quick to implement evidence-based practices when it came to this. I hope this helps you with the first part of your inquiry.

If it’s really bad, we bring in a new tub, pronto!! This is obviously easy to do in the hospital setting……we have very high water pressure and don’t “run out” of warm water….plus, our par level (supply rooms) have several birth tubs and a tone of liners….not sure how this is done on the homefront…
