How do i wean my 12 month old baby from breastfeeding?

By pregnantnews

I am looking forward to having another baby so if i fall pregnant while breastfeeding will it harm my 12 month old and the new baby on the way in anyway?
What are my chances of falling pregnant while breastfeeding?
He still wakes up at night to feed by the way, like every two to three hours:(

I feel very bad for you. Still wakes up every 2 or 3 hours? To me, my 1st child did that because she was breastfed. My 2nd, slept through the night since day 2 and was formula fed.
How we weaned her was just kept giving her the bottle. Of milk. Not formula. And she was eating solids. But her night feeding was milk. And before she went to bed. And she had a bottle in the mornings. And at lunch.
I went back to work when she was 12 months old, And she still nursed and still woke up at night. It was detrimental to me for her to keep getting up at night.

I am not nursing this baby, whom is due in October. So I won’t have to deal with waking up every 2 hours to feed…were hoping anyways.

You can continue to breastfeed while pregnant, it will not harm the baby or the child… and you can become pregnant at any time while breastfeeding if you are not using some type of contraception.
Good Luck:)

If you breast feed and don’t use a bottle, slowly use the bottle instead of actually breastfeeding, but still using breast milk.

It won’t hurt the baby you are breastfeeding if you become pregnant again, don’t worry.

I’m not sure if you have more or equal the chance of getting pregnant while breastfeeding, but you can still do it!

you can still get pregnant while breastfeeding and you can breastfeed during your pregnancy. your child is older, so your son is not nursing as often.

as for the night waking, he seems a bit old to be waking so often during the night. he is old enough with a large enough tummy to sleep for 6-8 hours a night without having an empty stomach. if mommy is going to grow another baby, your little man needs to let you sleep some more. next time he wakes up in the night, give him a few minutes before rushing in to save the day (or night in this matter) he may fall right back to sleep.

being a year old, weaning has already begun if he is eating solids. try making it a habit to offer food first. if you really want to wean, don’t offer the breast, but don’t refuse it either. you don’t want it him feel neglected or have to battle with him over it. if you continually do this (offer first first, ive the boob only when “requested”) , he should self wean. plus, by this age he is probably starting to walk or already running around like a maniac. the world becomes much more interesting to them once they are mobile and he just won’t have the time or want to stop exploring to BF!

take a look at http://www.kellymom.com you can read about everything BFing on there, including tandem nursing and nursing while pregnant.
