My milk went down at 5 months, so I went to feeding him 3x a day. Then at 6 months he weaned himself. My period returned when he was 7 months old.

Even then, it was really irregular... 37 days, 32, 28, 27, 31..and, well, now I'm pregnant again.

My periods have changed a little bit. I used to bleed a TON and have horribly painful periods. My periods aren't nearly as painful and, while I bleed a lot, it's not a super-crazy amount of blood.

Your period will get heavier than it seems to be now-- It just may take a few months. (But it's likely you won't be such a bleeder this time.)

i also had this experience....i started when i was still breast feeding my daughter at 19 months after her birth....my periods were really light for the first few sporadic cycles.....BE VERY CAREFUL....when you don't know your rythm yet, you have a higher chance of pregnancy....because of misleading signs...i got pregnant at my fourth cycle after my daughter....before my bleeding was even back to normal....although, i will note that i do not regret it....i love my new baby!

Ask your doc what a reasonable delay. I know a girl who didn't get her period for over 1year and found out that she could no longer have anymore. I asked my mom and she said that it can back about 6mths. It was about the same, with a little less cramping.

I breastfed my daughter for 11 months. I got my first period when she was 5 months old. It was very irregular until she was about 14 months. And since then it has been pretty regular, however, it has been much lighter ever since I had her. I always had to use super and super plus before and now on my heaviest days all I need is a regular and the rest of the time I get away with just a pantyliner.

If you are concerned though, talk to your doctor.

Your flow may be different than before you got pregnant. Mine has been different after each pregnancy. It has gotten lighter each time.

I just had my first post partum period, but I wasn't as lucky as you. My baby boy is 4 months old and still exclusively breastfed. I was sure hoping for a long hiatus from Aunt Flo! LOL

The bleeding you saw may very well have been a pill induced period that your body really wasn't ready for. If you hadn't taken the pills, you may have started a week later, for example. It depends on where your body was in it's own cycle when you started the pill.

Have you tried a pregnancy test just to be sure? I would hate for those pills to cause a miscarriage. Please test just in case! It is possible to get pregnant while breastfeeding, even if you haven't gotten a period!

Peroids are so iffy. You just cannot judge by others answers. About the only thing that is safe to do is talk to your doctor. You may have something minnor wrong and have to have meds or a dnc. Another baby would be nice, you can always love one more.
