How should my period be once I stop breastfeeding?

It’s been a month that I stopped breastfeeding completely and my period started 4 days ago and has been so heavy. I wanted to make sure that it is normal because my period has never been this heavy for this long before. Only right after delivery did I remember getting it like this. I am also getting clots fairly large. It’s been about three days now that I’m bleeding really heavy. If this is normal when should I expect it to become regular or light or end?
