How was/is your 2nd pregnancy different from your first? + Breastfeeding question.?

By pregnantnews

I think i may be pregnant again :) And i was just wondering how your 2nd pregnancy was or is different from your first pregnancy. Is it harder or easier? What about labor? And weight gain after the 2nd?

Also with my son i didn’t breast feed him but i want to breastfeed my next child. How was your experience with breastfeeding? ( I want to use a pump though). And what pump would you reccommend?

My second pregnancy was very different from the first. I was much more stressed out with the second one and everything went wrong. The baby was trying to come early so I had to be put on bed rest for two months. Then the epidural did not work properly and I felt the whole thing. I was in labor for 24 hours. I breast feed both of my kids but found it easy the first time. The second baby was a little rough on the nipple so I had to stop sooner than I would have liked to. I also gained more weight with the second baby as well.

I wouldnt say my second or third pregnancy have been any easier or harder than the 1st. Really every pregnancy is different so it is hard to say. I know on my third pregnancy my morning sickness was a lot worse than with the other two and I have only gained a total of 10 pounds and only have 5 weeks left till i deliver.

As for breastfeeding I did it for about two weeks with my first before I got sick and had to stop due to medication. On my second pregnancy I pumped for at least 2 months. The best pumps out there are Medela. The electric pumps which pump both breasts at the same time are AWESOME. I still have mine from my last pregnancy so I am hoping to combine actual nursing and pumping this go round and hope I can do it even longer than I did with the other two.

CONGRATULATIONS AND GOOD LUCK :-)

My second pregnancy was different in that morning sickness started sooner, lasted longer and was far more intense. I was smaller the second time and only gained 12 pounds where with my first I gained 46 pounds. Second baby’s heartbeat beat faster then the first and baby was born 5 days before due date where first baby was 5 days late. First baby was a boy and second one was a girl. I am 35 weeks with my third and its a girl and this pregnancy has been much like my second pregnancy. Only I’ve gained 19 pounds this time so far.

I have a 2 year old and I am currently 11 weeks with #2. It seems that most of the stuff that some of the things that has happened with pregnancy 1 is having a 2nd time around. So far I had gd with 1 and just diagnosed again on monday. In regards to breast feeding, I didn’t do it with 1, but will do both bottle and breast with #2. Good Luck and Congratulations.

My first pregnancy dragged on! I just had no patience, I wanted to see that baby!! Well now he’s 2 1/2 and is growing up way to fast. Now I am 18 weeks along with our 2nd baby and it has flown by. I mean like warp speed…Every time a doc appointment comes up I think how fast another month has gone! Also, with this pregnancy, I got some morning sickness the first 13 weeks, breakouts, my hair is very blah, but I am in high spirits. With my first (a boy) I had great skin and hair and I though I always looked pretty good, but I was a pain in the ass to be around. I was really grouchy and sensitive to everything anybody said. We find out on Tuesday what we are having, so we’ll see! I think it’s a girl, myself!

My second pregnancy was alot harder then my first. Although Labor was alot easier. I gained less weight with my second pregnancy but found it harder to lose the extra weight after. If you plan on using a pump ONLY. Don’t even bother breastfeeding. I breastfee my daughter who is now 9 mos old. IT is a wonderful bond, but when I tried to pump my breast I almost lost my milk. plus breast pumps aren’t made to substitute you breast entirely. You will find yourself sore if you use them alot.
