No you don’t need to pump and rid your milk. It is fine to smoke and breastfeed.

There’s no harm in that

No need to pump and dump your milk.
The amount of nicotine (and other chemicals) in your milk after smoking a couple of cigarettes is negligible and wont’ hurt her — you’d do far more harm by giving her formula.
(Of course it’s best to not smoke at all, but if you must smoke — keep breastfeeding your baby.)

its better to smoke and breastfeed than formula feed and smoke
the breast milk will help with the adverse effects of smoking…
the nicotine will still be in your system but it is better that you carry on breastfeeding
just dont smoke just before breastfeeding…

If you are going to smoke, you should make sure to do it right after a feeding. This is the best way to prevent any exposure to the chemicals. I have read that nicotine does not go through breast milk though.

Good for you for breastfeeding!
1. Never, ever smoke around your baby. I’m sure you know this but it’s the most important thing to remember. Second-hand smoke kills.
2. The smoke itself gets into your clothes, hair, and skin, and your baby can inhale and ingest that residue as you hold her.
3. The nicotine DOES get into your breastmilk! It can reduce the amount of milk you “let down” and your baby will ingest it if you breastfeed after smoking.
4. If you need to smoke, do so immediately after breastfeeding to give the nicotine time to get out of your bloodstream before your next feeding.
Smoking while breastfeeding has been linked to reduced milk supply and colic, but typically these problems occur when breastfeeding moms smoke more than a pack a day.

It is OK. Just smoke outdoors and never around the baby. I have a cig. a day and I have separate clothes I get in for that smoke and then I change afterwords. Brush your teeth post-smoking. And if you have a shower planned for the day, take it after the smoke. And of course smoke right after feeding.
I know it is best not to smoke but that one cig after my hub returns from work and I hand him baby and go out is really stress-relieving.

Oh my word. Don’t smoke while you are breastfeeding. Nicotine is not easily absorbed into a newborns system, but it has been proven to cause sleep disruptions. Not only that, unless you take a full shower after you smoke, you are giving that baby second hand smoke, and we all know how healthy that is.
Put your smoking on hold until your child is older. It’s one thing to tar up your own lungs, but your baby does not have a choice in the matter.
Do the right thing. Don’t try to justify something you KNOW is not good for your baby, because of your own addiction. It’s not fair to your baby or you ….

No matter how much you smoke, there is nothing in your breastmilk that will hurt her. Please don’t worry about it.

Yes, the carcinogens that have riddled your body will travel into the baby’s system as well.

It is still better than formula feeding. As long as you smoke 60-90 minutes before feeding, everything will be fine. You can smoke right after feeding too.
I did this with all 3 of my kids, and they are normal healthy kids.
