Did your baby “crawl” backwards before they started really crawling?
Posted by: | CommentsQuestion by Austin and Ava’s Mom: Did your baby “crawl” backwards before they started really crawling?
When my daughter is on her belly, she kinda pushes herself backwards in a way that almost looks like a backwards crawl. I will put a toy in front of her just out of her reach, and when she reaches and can’t get it she starts that “crawling” backwards thing. Is this the start of real crawling? My son never crawled, so I have no idea. She is 6.5 months old.

What does it really mean when a woman calls her platonic friend “baby”?
Posted by: | CommentsQuestion by : What does it really mean when a woman calls her platonic friend “baby”?
This has just recently happened in the couple years I’ve known her (my crazy female friend). I’m quite concerned she has targeted me. I’ve suggested other guys for her to get her thrills. While I find her dose of crazy sometimes entertaining, I don’t want in her crazy pants.

More likely she thinks you are her gay best friend.

Question by KayLynn: Why is the first question after just having your baby “So are you planning on having more”?
I find that this question has been asked of me, mainly by women who have shown possible signs of jealousy, why do they want to know about more kids?
I should have explained further, the jealousy statement. One woman is 23 and is the step granddaughter of my MIL who just became a biological grandmother when we had our baby. She has made it clear to MIL how jealous she is and said she hoped the baby wasn’t a girl, because she is the only girl. So when she asks if we are having more, I feel it’s odd.?
Another woman is my step sister in law who makes comments constantly, with her sweet soft voice, but if you take her voice out and just hear her words, they are pretty rough. She wants kids but her husband doesn’t, they are 28. She told me maybe she will have kids one day when she is my age, 30.
I am a little on defense because the question is asked by clearly jealous people often, and so i wonder why they want to know this FIRST not that they want to know at all. Thanks

Maybe they’re just curious about how you’re enjoying motherhood.
Or maybe they’re just making conversation.
What would they be jealous of?

What’s the best way to say “Hey baby!! I’m having your baby!” ?
Posted by: | CommentsQuestion by sinfulangel: What’s the best way to say “Hey baby!! I’m having your baby!” ?
My boyfriend has told me over and over again that we need to be careful because he’s not ready to start a family. Of course things do happen. There is a possibility that I’m pregnant and I’m trying to prepare for the speech where I break the news. Any suggestions???
Just to clear things up. I’m having all the symptoms… I have 2 children of my own. But I took a test and it was negative though this has happened to me before in a previous pregnancy. I’m going to wait a few more days to make sure the HCG will be detectable on a test first before I dish out the money for a doctor’s appointment. I’m just trying to think ahead. I’ve never had to break the news to my childrens dad because he was there when I found out. this is a new experience for me.

I gave my daughters dad a really nice gift wrapped in a box baby outfit.
It was the most entertaining thing to watch because first it was like- yaaaaaaaay present, then it was- what the hell is this? and then it went to ooooooooooooooh.
I recommend it. Very entertaining to the pregnant person.

As a new parent you want the best products and spare no amount of money. Friends and family suggest all kinds of “must have” items for your new baby. What’s hot and what’s not? By the time your baby is ready to arrive it can be confusing to a new parent on what items you really need to raise a baby. It’s real simple and doesn’t cost you much in the beginning to raise a newborn. Babies do three things when they are born. Eat, sleep and poop.
They need a place to sleep, feel warm and safe and have plenty to eat. With a newborn you don’t have to rush out and buy a crib just yet. You’re going to be waking up plenty in the middle of the night for feedings and wet diapers. To make it easy on mom and dad a must have item is a co-sleeper baby bed like The Snuggle Nest. This bed fits right in-between mom and dad. It gives new parents peace of mind to have your little one sleeping right next to you safely. A great added feature is a little light that you can turn on in the middle of the night to check on your baby. This avoid having to turn on bright lights at night to see. The co-sleeper folds easy and can be taken with you where ever you go.
To make feedings easy for you and baby there is formula that is premixed ready to go. Similac and Enfamil make 2oz ready to use bottles. These are great for night feedings! You just pop the cap off and replace with a nipple. I had a box sitting next to my bed at night. You don’t need to refrigerate to store, only after opening. When your baby moves up in formula amounts you can then step up to the larger premixed bottles. The price difference from powder to premix is only a few dollars more. Well worth the cost!
Have plenty of baby bottles on hand. I found the regular plastic BPA free bottles work just as well as the fancy curved or drop-ins. The nipple shape and style is what matters most at this age. Make sure to use a smaller nipple hole when you first start bottle feeding your baby. (Size 1) This keeps your baby from eating too much and choking. Your baby will tell you which bottle he/she likes best and just stick with that bottle. Dishwasher safe is best for properly sterilizing your bottles.
Blankets are a must have as well. Good large blankets to wrap your baby in at night. Babies love to feel warm, safe and secure. Learn how to wrap your baby tightly (the hospital will teach you this) and place your baby on his/her back at night. Make sure it’s not too tight but snug. This feels most like the womb to them. Newborn babies need to keep there body heat close to them. Always keep on a snug cap and booties as well. Heat escapes from the top of babies head and feet.
Diapers, of course is another must have, but which ones? You want to keep your baby dry. Keeping baby dry stops most diaper rashes before they start. I found Pampers Swaddlers to be the best. They have a wet indicator on the diaper. There’s a yellow strip on the front of the diaper that turns blue when your baby is wet. No guessing games here. These diapers are great! Don’t settle for less expensive diapers. Leaks can be messy and awful for you and baby. Especially at 3am! Swaddlers are well worth the money.
Mylicon is the final and BEST item to buy for baby. This is a gas relief product that really helps gassy babies. You baby will have gas after every feeding. Sometimes burping is not enough. When your baby is crying and he’s not hungry, wet or sleepy it’s probably gas. Give him the recommended dose (located on box) and your baby will feel better within minutes.
I have listed above some of the “must have” products I’ve used with my newborn son. Raising a baby takes time, patience and lots of love.

Baby Blankets for getting out and about
Baby blankets are regularly used in the home when you have a little one, they are very useful for keeping them warm for when they are asleep or sitting in a bouncy chair. People buy you them as one of the standard gifts for a new baby, so people generally have many more than they need, although it always is handy to have extra so you can wash them if there are any spills.

Most people assume that a buggy blanket is a basic square or rectangle blanket that anyone can use for anything. In a buggy you simply lay it over the child and tuck them in. Of course that is quite acceptable and it is what most people do. But wouldn’t it be great if there was something that did the job but so much better?

Is there life after Bankruptcy?
Yes, there is. In this economy many families have to make that decision. I personally had to file for bankruptcy 7 years ago. This was due to a car accident and separation with my now ex-husband. During the separation he wanted our new car. The car was only a year old. Since he took the car I assumed he would pay for the insurance. The car was in both our names. He did not keep up with insurance payments and I was unaware of his lack of payments.

Communication is Key to a Good Marriage
Marriage is hard work. No one ever said it was easy. Learning how to communicate with your spouse is very important in creating a successful marriage. There have been so many relationships and marriages that have been broken or ended up in divorce because one person or both can’t express how they feel or what they need. Proper communication and understanding how the opposite sex thinks is key to a good marriage.

What is the proper way to tell an 8 mo. old baby “NO”?
Posted by: | CommentsQuestion by Jenny Hammer: What is the proper way to tell an 8 mo. old baby “NO”?
I have a very independant 8 mo. old girl who just started crawling and gets into EVERYTHING! I am telling her “no-no” in a stern voice. It makes her stop… for about a second. I want to start the right way NOW before she becomes a holy terror. I don’t want to do anything to cause future problems

Answer by Mars1111
Firmly say “NO” and remove her from what ever she is doing, she’ll probably cry, but if you stay consistent she will start to understand some things are off limits. Good Luck!

Question by ROBERT F: How do I seperate new Sago palms from the primary plant. I have 2 or3 “baby” palms growing from the base?
Best answer:
Answer by rustskipper
Hey Robert,
It is best not to remove the basal suckers until they are at least 10 to 15 cm in diameter. We recommend removing most or all of the leaves. Clean equipment must be used. The sucker is removed at its base, without scaring or damaging the mother trunk. This is best done with a somewhat curved saw blade or a sharp chisel. Protect the mother trunk by moving dirt away from the point of attachment and letting it callus over for a few weeks after removal of the offset. Many people will treat the cut surface of both the offset and mother plant with a fungicide and some type of sealing material such as tar or wax. The removed offset can also be treated with growth stimulants. It should be place in the shade in a rapidly draining mix. We prefer to use pumice (ground lava foam), although people often use sand, perlite, or other materials. Water just to keep the pumice slightly damp. Avoid watering the offset; rather water the soil. The pup should root out and leaf within six to twelve months. Failure will be discovered if the offset collapses or becomes very soft on squeezing. Once rooted and leafed, gradually move the young plant can be repotted into a regular cycad soil and moved into brighter light. A greenhouse environment may speed up this propagation process. Bottom heat is usually not necessary, but can be used.

Question by Keke: What song is this,”Baby,do you think that i was wrong.Do you think about me when i was gone.”?
I can only remember the chorus part and i’m thinking it was the intro of a television show. It goes something like this…
“Baby did you think that i was wrong, Do you think about me when i was gone.”
Or maybe this…
“Baby, maybe i was wrong, do you think when i was gone”
I just can’t find the song or the lyrics. I know it starts out with a loud, “Baby” and it has wrong or something in the chorus. I also know that it is in the rock genre and the person sounds like Daniel Powter.

What is the name of this song? “Where have you been all my life, sweet baby?”?
Posted by: | CommentsQuestion by alcatraz: What is the name of this song? “Where have you been all my life, sweet baby?”?
I’ve searched the internet, but apparently, there are just more and more people asking them… no answers. Also, the song made its appearence on the 2009 movie “FANBOYS”.
More lyrics to the song are:
where have you been all my life, sweet baby, girl i’ve been waiting for a while now, there’s a star in the sky that shines brightly on you in that pretty dress that you’re wearing, girl you’re so fine…”
