This is my 2nd pregnancy, 1st was c-section. I’m a little nervous about VBAC though I know the risk of rupture is small. Would appreciate anecdotal stories to quell my anxieties and also any advice to make sure I am adequately prepared. Thanks!

I just found out my birth control failed and i’m pregnant, only 8 months after having my first baby. I’m nervous because my last pregnancy ended in an ‘emergency’ c-section (which, it turns out, could have been completely preventable, so the reason is not likely to repeat itself). I know that I want a VBAC if I can get it, but I keep getting mixed detail and was hoping to hear from someone who has had one before. Is it much different then a first pregnancy? Is it much riskier? Some say no increased risk, but then, i’ll be going out of town for mine because they are banned in the only hospital here! Any advice would be great, i’m still at a point where I dont know where to start.

vbac and blood thinners?

Posted by: pregnantnews | Comments (3)

I had my first child by c-section (too big to deliver), now with my second I had clotting and was put on lovenox, can I still have a vbac or is it to risky? Anyone have vbac while on blood thinner? How did it turn out for you?
oh, I will def. ask my doctor. I just want to see if anyone out there has done this before. My doc has kinda brought it up as a “it’s my choice” kinda thing.

I know I am having a VBAC ( vaginal birth after cesarian ) And I have wanted a home birth as it is the only way to have a water birth where I am at unless I want to travel 2-5 hours away. But am unsure because of previous problems with my daughters birth. They told me with her I could have a VBAC if I wanted to. So What do ya’ll think

Epidural and VBAC?

Posted by: pregnantnews | Comments (9)

I am planning a VBAC. My doctor wants me to have an epidural upon admission, however, I am concerned that I will lose the urge to push and end up with a c-section for the same reason I got the first one.

1. Is it possible to get a epidural catheter in w/o actually getting the meds?

2. If the meds aren’t going in, does it even merit the catheter?

3. How long does it take for an epidural to take effect?

4. How long does it take a spinal to take effect
I don’t think the doctor cares about my pain. She wants to make sure that I’m prepared for a c-section (which is discouraging).

I was pain free with my first baby, but of course I wasn’t permitted to change positions AT ALL during pushing and ended up with a c-section because of the baby’s head position. My poor guy came out of the c-section with a coned head like I’ve never seen. Doctor’s notes “failure to decend”.

I agree- I think I did get a bait and switch, but I’m due in 4 weeks and I don’t have a lot of options left. My doctor is ALLOWING me to VBAC, but all of their “safety” procedures make me more apt to just do the whole thing at home!

I’m so glad that there are so many supportive people out there.

I’ve decided that I’m going to play the same game as my doctors! I won’t argue about the epidural and then decide I don’t want it when I’m in the hospital. What are they going to do, hold me down?

My son will be 4 in July, and had him emergency c-section because I only dialated to 9 and his head was too large. I am ttc again, and I am trying to decide between a c-section and VBAC.

I am 28 weeks pregnant and I am trying to decide if I should have a VBAC or a repeat C-section. I had my first child 7 years ago and she was breech so I had a schedualed c-section. With this pregnancy I’m not sure what to do, I’m open to having a VBAC, but yet I’m scared becuz of uteran rupture and all the other risks involved. I’m also open to another c-section becuz i know what it’s like, but yet, it’s longer recovery, and also more risks involved like infection and what not. So if anyone out there has been in this situation. What did you do? and how did it turn out?
