This way the chances of getting pregnant increase considerably. In fact it is an acceptable fact that woman give birth to multiple babies when they try the IVF procedure. It is also called test tube baby. IVF can be costly and the patient should realize what she is getting into when she goes to IVF clinics.
There are many IVF clinics where the doctors are waiting for a desperate patient to come in so that they can exploit and take advantage of them. They thrive on the insecurities and problems of patient, get all the money they can from them and leave them in jeopardy of their own health. Hence one should choose the doctor and clinic after a lot of analysis. Also one should know a lot about the procedure and cost for each stage of the treatment before venturing into it with absolutely no clue.

In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) in India
IVF was the first procedure used to fertilize eggs outside a woman’s body. In 1978, the first “test tube baby,” was conceived through IVF. Most assisted reproductive technologies (ART) are derived from the IVF procedure.
In an In Vitro Fertilization( IVF) Procedure, the doctor:
Prescribes hormonal medications to stimulate the ovaries.
Gathers the eggs.
Fertilizes the eggs in vitro (outside the body).
Transfers the resulting embryos through the cervix into the uteru..
VF (In Vitro Fertilization) Process
IVF was originally developed to treat infertility caused by blocked or damaged fallopian tubes. However, it is currently used to treat a variety of infertility problems. In 1993 alone, over 31,900 IVF cycles were initiated in the United States and Canada. This led to the successful delivery of 5,103 babies. IVF success rates have improved since its introduction many years ago. The success rates compare favorably to natural pregnancy rates in any given month when the woman is under 40 years of age and there are no sperm problems. IVF involves collecting eggs and sperm from a couple and placing them together in a laboratory dish to fertilize outside the body, or in vitro. The fertilized eggs are then transferred several days later into the woman’s uterus, or womb, where implantation and embryo development will hopefully occur just as in a normal pregnancy.
IVF : Benefits vs. Limitations
One of the major benefits of IVF is the ability to know before transfer takes place if the male’s sperm has actually fertilized the eggs. If fertilization fails to take place (as may happen in some cases of male infertility), changes can be made in the semen processing or fertilization conditions during a future attempt to create an embryo.
Another benefit of IVF is embryo transfer to the uterus. Because fertilized eggs are placed directly in the uterus, the woman doesn’t need to have functioning fallopian tubes.
It has been shown that women under 40 years of age undergoing IVF have a substantially higher success rate than women over age 40. Therefore, one of the limitations of IVF is a low success rate in women over age 40. This is believed to be due to the quality of oocytes in older women..

Ask them if their price quote includes everything, including fertility drug purchases, ultrasound and monitoring costs, blood work, and any options they consider “extra”.
If you have frozen embryos from a previous cycle and want to use them, doing so is significantly cheaper than doing a complete IVF cycle with fresh embryos. The average cost for a frozen embryo transfer (FET), is about ,000.
Additional Costs for IVF Options
While basic IVF costs around ,000, if you need additional assisted reproductive technologies, the cost will be higher.
For example, ICSI treatment (where a single sperm is injected directly into an egg) may be an additional ,000 to ,500.
PGD, genetic testing of embryos, may be around ,000 or more.
Embryo freezing, including the initial freezing and storage, may cost an additional few to several hundred dollars.
If you plan on using an egg donor, the cost will be significantly higher — from ,000 to ,000 for one cycle. Using a sperm donor is less expensive, costing anywhere from 0 to ,000 extra, or between ,000 and ,000 per IVF cycle.
Embryo donation is the least expensive of the donor options, and it’s often cheaper than a regular IVF cycle. An embryo donor cycle costs anywhere between ,000 and ,000. This is assuming the embryo has already been created (as opposed to choosing an egg donor and sperm donor, and having the embryo created specifically for your cycle, which would be extremely expensive).

IVF Payment and Refund Programs
Many fertility clinics offer payment programs to help make IVF treatment more affordable. Don’t write off IVF before you talk to your clinic about your options.
There are also refund programs, where you pay a set fee, usually between ,000 and ,000, and the clinic will refund part your money if you do not get pregnant after three or four IVF treatment cycles. Not all couples qualify, and the terms vary from clinic to clinic.
Also, before signing up for a refund program, it’s important to clarify what they consider a successful cycle. A positive pregnancy test is not the same as a baby in your arms. If the refund program considers a positive pregnancy test a success, and you have a miscarriage, then you’ve lost your chance for the refund and another treatment cycle under the program.
While price comparisons are important when choosing a fertility clinic, you should also consider their success rates. If an IVF clinic has a very low price, but their success rates are low and multiple cycles may be needed to achieve a pregnancy, then choosing the cheaper clinic isn’t worth it.
Don’t Confuse Micro-IVF with Real IVF
It’s also important that you don’t confuse micro-IVF, or mini-IVF, with regular IVF treatment. Micro-IVF, a relatively new approach to fertility treatment, uses lower doses of fertility drugs and involves less monitoring of the growing embryos before transfer. It costs on average ,000.
However, micro-IVF is better suited for couples looking to try IUI treatment, and it’s not for everyone. Success rates are also unclear.

While studies connecting obesity to anovulation are not news, a study led by Dr. Van der Steeg, a medical researcher at the Academic Medical Center in The Netherlands, shows that even women who regularly ovulate experience sub-fertility when their BMI (body mass index) is in the overweight or obese category.
