Would you get a CAST of your BELLY while pregnant?
Posted by: | CommentsI am a doula & was thinking of offering this service.
I have never done it, but wanted some pregnant womens’ thoughts on doing it.
Thanks in advance.
Duly noted, kmennie.
Anyone had a DOULA? would you recommend it?
Posted by: | Commentswhat are some things that they do that make it all worth the money? My hubby and I are thinking about a lady, she charges $450, and this is my first time pregnancy so I’m wondering whether it’s a good idea, or if we should save the money for baby?
The doula comes with me to the hospital, she does not deliver my baby, a doctor does… a midwife is someone who delivers the baby
We have crossed traditional ideas – flowers, wine. Any memorable ones.. Price range – 30-60 USD; 60-100 USD.
I should be more clear, I guess….
Gift for one unmarried lady OBGYN, one elderly male nurse, one female midwife and one young lady doula (intern)
Use a midwife & a doula?
Posted by: | CommentsI have heard people rave about doulas and the help they provide during labor, but is it really necessary. Any good or bad experiences with it? I would think the two would get into one anothers way and bump heads a bit.
Has anyone in the Pittsburgh PA area given birth at Mercy Hospital?
Posted by: | CommentsWas your experience good or bad? I have heard that their cesarian rates are very high, which is making me consider hiring a doula for extra support.
How hard is it to become a Doula?
Posted by: | CommentsI wasn’t sure where to ask this. I used to be a CNA and gave birth myself for the first time almost a year ago. I was going to become a nurse but the school I was going to was too expensive. After the first year I had to drop out and after that life happened and I lost the desire to go back to school. I wanted to be a labor and delivery nurse and now I am realizing I can still basically do the job I wanted to do but without the 4 years of schooling.
All that said, I don’t know the first thing about becoming a doula, nor have I talked to anyone who has done it.
What is your opinion about who should be in the delivery room with you?
Posted by: | CommentsI’m having a difficult time figuring this out for myself.
1. husband
My sister wants to be there, but I never see her (and she lives 5 minutes away). She is always with her boyfriend who doesn’t want to be around us. She does not always pick up her phone (because she is with him…. etc. etc.) I feel like I cannot count on her.
A doula? Expensive … but possibly.
My mom? My mom can be very mean, and I don’t want her to be rude to the doctor and/or nurses. She is usually mean to everyone … and at that time, I don’t think I could handle it.
Any advice?
Anyone ever use a Doula?

How do you cure baby fever?
Posted by: | CommentsI want a baby so bad but I know at this point in my life it’s just not something I could handle. I have a 19 month old now and my fiance really wants another one but she just keeps me so busy I don’t know if I could handle another one. All my friends are getting pregnant again and I’m going to be a doula at 2 births. All the pregnancy books are getting to my head. Any tips?
Meant my daughter keeps me so busy. What I said kind of looked funny.
I’m not scared of the lactating
. I’m still breastfeeding.
Anyone use a doula for a planned C-section?
Posted by: | CommentsWas she helpful? If so, what kind of things was she helpful with? Would you do it again? Was she worth the money, given that she was helping you through a c-section rather than a vaginal delivery?
