Women’s Bodies… Perfections/Imperfections?
Posted by: | CommentsQuestion by Prima_Donnassassin!: Women’s Bodies… Perfections/Imperfections?
A few years ago, my best friend was dating this guy who complained that the girls in music vidoes were fake and “made in a factory” (lol) because they didn’t have stretch marks and other bodily imperfections that real, everyday women have….
I found it to be slightly charming…lol…He actually appreciates the things that happen to a woman’s body over time…
What do you guys think about stretch marks, cellulite, scars and other such bodily marks/”imperfections” on your significant other?…do you prefer to have someone who is seemingly “flawless”?
I know there’s no such things as flawless..lol…that’s why it’s in quotation marks…

First of all, there is no such thing as flawless. It doesn’t matter if your 90 or 5 – everybody has cellulite!
I actually think it’s womanly. Anyone agree?

Emulated DI Out on my Marshall AVT50H?
Posted by: | CommentsQuestion by AskerOfQuestions: Emulated DI Out on my Marshall AVT50H?
I’ve got a Marshall AVT50H head running into a Marshall 4×12 cab and I use it in our youth room for our church youth group. I plug my guitar directly into the input and I run a cable from an auxiliary out on our soundboard to the CD Input on the head, so it works as a monitor for the singers as well–not a loud one, but something.
Here’s my predicament: our drummer has trouble hearing us sometimes, and I need to run him a monitor too. I’ve got another small amp that would work, but I don’t have a cable long enough to make the stretch. I do have a jack marked “Emulated DI Out” on the back of my amp head, though, and running a cable from that would be a lot easier than from the board–I’ve got a cable long enough for that. Would that work? Also, what would go out of the DI Out? Would it be just the guitar, or would it be the guitar and the vocals from the aux out on the board? Thanks for the help!

The D.I output would be a speaker-emulated line level signal for running the amp to the soundboard

Question by 2nd In Command to David: Since Clement of Alexandria said to add these verses from the “Secret Gospel of Mark”, why wasnt it added?
The letter includes two excerpts from the Secret Gospel. The first is to be inserted, Clement states, between what are verses 34 and 35 of Mark 10:
And they come into Bethany. And a certain woman whose brother had died was there. And, coming, she prostrated herself before Jesus and says to him, ‘Son of David, have mercy on me.’ But the disciples rebuked her. And Jesus, being angered, went off with her into the garden where the tomb was, and straightway a great cry was heard from the tomb. And going near Jesus rolled away the stone from the door of the tomb. And straightway, going in where the youth was, he stretched forth his hand and raised him, seizing his hand. But the youth, looking upon him, loved him and began to beseech him that he might be with him. And going out of the tomb they came into the house of the youth, for he was rich. And after six days Jesus told him what to do and in the evening the youth comes to him, wearing a linen cloth over his naked body. And he remained with him that night, for Jesus taught him the mystery of the kingdom of God. And thence, arising, he returned to the other side of the Jordan.

So, why wasn’t it added if Clement said that these verses from the Secret Gospel were authentic?
Clement said to add it, and it’s not hotly disputed, both Atheists and Christians agree it’s authentic that Clement said this.

ahh my dear, those are stretch marks. your body is growing and changing. they will fade over time, but i know how scarey it can be to see them. there are all sorts of creams out there that promise to reduce/eliminate stretch marks. they pretty much don’t work (for me at least), but you can give them a try anyway. you can also exercise or dance to keep everything toned and in shape. if you’re really concerned, make an appointment with a dermatologist. perhaps there is some sort of prescription cream that would help, but it could also be a waste of money.
good luck, and exercise! 13 or not, it’s a great way to keep your body healthy regardless.

Question about stretch mark cream?
Posted by: | CommentsQuestion by Vasara: Question about stretch mark cream?
I have 2 kids. After my first I didnt get any “mommy marks”. I used the Palmers Cocoa Butter 3 times daily with BOTH pregnancies. Now that my youngest is just over 1 year, I JUST noticed I have some, very few light, white ones on my upper, outer thighs. Almost on my hips. Is there a cream that can lighten them up?

Question by Holy Cow: Christians! who was the naked disciple AKA “the naked youth” that Jesus loved so much mentioned in Mark 14 ?
and also in the “secret gospel of Mark” it says
“and Jesus went forward and rolled away the stone from the door of the tomb. And immediately he went in where the young man was, stretched out his hand and raised him up, grasping him by the hand. But the young man looked upon him and loved him, and began to beg him that he might remain with him. And when they had gone out from the tomb, they went into the young man’s house; for he was rich. And after six days Jesus gave him an order; and in the evening the young man came to him, clothed only in a linen cloth upon his naked body. And he remained with him that night; for Jesus was teaching him the mysteries of God’s Domain.”

Abrahamic faiths…what is the distinction between “sin” and “evil”.?
Posted by: | CommentsQuestion by Nighttree: Abrahamic faiths…what is the distinction between “sin” and “evil”.?
As a Pagan, I often find myself trying to understand the comments made by…and opinions expressed by people of the Abrahamic faiths (most often Christians).
“As I understand it” the word “sin” means “not hitting the mark” or doing something that moves you further from your god’s ideals.
As an expression meaning that humans are not perfect (something we can probably all agree on) and that we all make mistakes at times I can agree.
I can even agree that we are all born with the capacity to make mistakes, and as such can understand your concept of inherent sin.
However it seems that many people make no distinction between human failings, and evil….which are two completely different things.
Again…as I understand it, evil is the (often deliberate) act of harming others through your actions.
Usually for the sake of personal gain, and without consideration of the welfare of those involved.
For example:
I would say that a Pedophile taking advantage of a child to gain the sexual gratification he desires is commiting an evil act.
A Homosexual couple, who choose to have a sexual relationship, may in your eye’s be “missing the mark” of your god’s ideals…..but they are by no stretch of the imagination evil.
Yet I repeatedly see christians compare the two as if they where the same thing ?
A man who murders his wife in a fit of rage has commited an evil act, but what about the person who kills someone in an attempt to protect themselves (or someone alse they are protecting) from a killer ?
Are they evil ?
What are your thoughts ?
How do you distinguish between someone being human….and being evil ???
@ Poohcat1: So if the intent is “good” is no sin commited ?
@BlitzAce: That I can agree with.
As a Pagan, my actions are based on what I percieve to be honerable behavior.
They may sometimes be flawed in retrospect, but they are not evil or sinfull just because I am not perfect.

Any of you other pregnant ladies have an overbearing relative driving you crazy?!?!?!?
Posted by: | CommentsQuestion by Hope D: Any of you other pregnant ladies have an overbearing relative driving you crazy?!?!?!?
Ok, my mother is driving me insane! We have never had a great relationship, but now that I’m pregnant she wants to be my best friend. I’m 20, married, and due in May.
She has it stuck in her head that I should be calling her for advice on evrything, that I should be calling her when I feel depressed, when I have a question, ect. However, the advise she gives is this:
“Well my feet never swelled when I was pregnant, you should call your doctor”, or “I only gained 10 lbs during my first pregnancy, and most of that was the baby!” or, “I had 3 kids and never got a single stretch mark!”
I, on the other hand, have gained 40 lbs (I was 15 lbs underweight when I got pregnant)
My feet are so swollen it hurts to walk, and my legs are so scarred that it looks like I’ve been mauled by a bear!
And she wonders why I don’t like talking to her, or taking her advice. As for calling her when I’m depressed, she is usually the one to MAKE me depressed. She wants me to name my baby the name she has picked out, not the one my husband and I spent hours choosing, ect. I’m losing my mind! I try to keep her involved, because she is the grandma, but how do I nicely tell her that I’m a grown woman, starting my own family, and she needs to butt out?
I’ve already asked her not to talk to my stomach, because she uses this high squeeky voice, the same voice she uses on her dog, and talks gibberish. Drives me nuts.
Anyone have any advice, or similar stories so I know I’m not the only one???
And I know she’s trying to be “helpful”, but in truth all she is doing is trying to decide everything for me. Its my child, she already had hers, so I think I should be the one raising him, naming him, choosing his decorations, ect. She is trying to be the MOM and not the GRANDMA.

You are definitely not the only one girly. I am almost 14 weeks pregnant and if I cry or am depressed even a little my stupid b&^%$ stepmom starts telling me your going to lose your baby. Also being told by family that I should have waited longer or that my skin problem will be given to the baby maybe and be ugly. I am 21, married and this is also my first child. I am sick of hearing about miscarriage this and that I am not happy hearing this crap. I can only hope your family will stop being mean.

Mom is jealous of my relationship with my dad, or what?
Posted by: | CommentsQuestion by Hope D: Mom is jealous of my relationship with my dad, or what?
Ok, I’m a daddy’s girl. Always have been. I’m 20, married, and due to have my first child in less than 6 weeks. My mother and I have had many issues throughout my life, and there are times when I have hated her with a passion.
Since I became pregnant however, she has decided to try and be my best friend. Trying to give me parenting advice, wanting to “hang out”, and calling me constantly. I usually talk to her no more than once a week, because she puts me in such a foul mood, that I get physically sick.
However, I talk to my dad constantly. We call each other back and forth throughout the week, and try to have lunch together every now and then. He is my hero, and my rock.
The thing is, my mom can’t stand the thought of me talking to him, more than her. She wants to know why I call him, but not her. And she would go completely ballistic if she knew we have lunch occaisionally (without her)
Its not like I ignore her, I try to keep her involved in the pregnancy as much as possible because she is the grandma, but I can’t stand her overbearing, useless advice.
“Well I only gained 10 lbs in my pregnancy!” or, “my feet never swelled when I was pregnant!”, or “I had 3 kids and never got a single stretch mark!” That kind of stuff. While I on the other hand have gained 40 lbs (I was 15 lbs underweight when I got pregnant), my feet are so swollen it hurts to walk, and my legs are so scarred it looks like I was mauled by a bear!
I’m just frustrated, and ranting a little I guess, but does anyone have any sort of advice or encouragement for me? I’m losing my mind. I’m not going to talk to my dad less because it upsets her (they are still married and everything, by the way) But I can barely stand to talk to her as much as I am now.
