(9) R&S –> QUR’AN talks about the 3 basic stages in the womb…………….?
Posted by: | CommentsQuestion by Edge Spear: (9) R&S –> QUR’AN talks about the 3 basic stages in the womb…………….?
In the Qur’an, it is related that man is created in a three-stage process in the mother’s womb.
“… He creates you stage by stage in your mothers’ wombs in
a threefold darkness. That is God, your Lord. Sovereignty is His.
There is no god but Him. So what has made you deviate?”
(The Qur’an, 39:6)
As will be understood, it is pointed out in this verse that a human being is created in the mother’s womb in three distinct stages. Indeed, modern biology has revealed that the baby’s embryological development takes place in three distinct regions in the mother’s womb.
Today, in all the embryology textbooks studied in faculties of medicine, this subject is taken as an element of basic knowledge. For instance in Basic Human Embryology, a fundamental reference text in the field of embryology.
1) Pre-embryonic stage
2) Embryonic Stage
3) Fetal stage
The fact that such detailed and accurate information was given in the Qur’an at a time when people had scarce information on medical matters is clear evidence that the Qur’an is not the word of man, but the word of God.

LOL maybe this is too much info for the day? I’ll come back tomorrow, next time with HISTORICAL proof? As I’ve picked out only few of the scientific ones. =]

Question by Anno: NON-MUSLIMS, What’s ur opinions about the fact of the (Stages of the baby in the womb) ???
Modern science has explained to us after lots of advances researches and modern studies by scientists, the stages of the baby in the womb.
- “He makes you in the wombs of your mothers in stages, one after another, in three veils of darkness.”
This statement is from Sura 39:6. We do not know when it was realized that human beings underwent development in the uterus (womb), but the first known illustration of a fetus in the uterus was drawn by Leonardo da Vinci in the 15th century. In the 2nd century A.D., Galen described the placenta and fetal membranes in his book “On The Formation of the Fetus.” Consequently, doctors in the 7th century A.D. likely knew that the human embryo developed in the uterus. It is unlikely that they knew that it developed in stages, even though Aristotle had described the stages of development of the chick embryo in the 4th century B.C. The realization that the human embryo develops in stages was not discussed and illustrated until the 15th century!
After the microscope was discovered in the 17th century by Leeuwenhoek descriptions were made of the early stages of the chick embryo. The staging of human embryos was not described until the 20th century. Streeter (1941) developed the first system of staging which has now been replaced by a more accurate system proposed by O’Rahilly (1972).
How could the Qur’an know about it from 1,400 years ago??

Question by Prisoner of Grace: Why is it considerd murder when someone does something to cause a womans unborn child to die?
But if it’s the womans choice it’s no longer murder?
The Unborn Victims of Violence Act of 2004 (Public Law 108-212) is a United States law which recognizes a “child in utero” as a legal victim, if he or she is injured or killed during the commission of any of over 60 listed federal crimes of violence. The law defines “child in utero” as “a member of the species Homo sapiens, at any stage of development, who is carried in the womb.”
Laws wouldnt have to be created if we had morals

Why do we have gills in the womb?
Posted by: | CommentsQuestion by barbaro_strong: Why do we have gills in the womb?
I was watching a documentary on the science channel or Nova… It was entitled “In the Womb”. They had a special camera in that was used to film it’s development and found gills on the fetus. They go away after two weeks but they were THERE! I know they found other evidence before but that shocked me. God has some explaining to do Christians.

You have received a great deal of false information. First, babies are not born with gills! Get that out of your thinking! Babies do not “breath” for oxygen in the womb. They do “practice breathing” using the amniotic fluid of the womb, but it is not doing them any good otherwise. All of the embryo and fetal needs are received through the placenta. The mother provides everything that is needed.
As for the gills, there is a stage in the early human embryo development whereby humans do show gill slits, but not functional gills. Slits are not gills!! As a matter of fact, all vertebrates show these same gill slits.

What are your thoughts on designer babies?
Posted by: | CommentsI learned about designer babies in my Human Development class, and was deeply disturbed by it. Here is an article, for those who aren’t familiar with designer babies:

Maybe I am overlooking something? Maybe there are benefits to this that I am not aware of?
Anyway, I’m very curious as to your thoughts and feelings towards this technology, and the fact that it may become a reality in our lifetimes.
I think it’s a shame; I think it’s deplorable, and I think this technology will strip what little mystery is left in our world. I mean, it’s a baby, not a friggin’ Build-A-Bear. Our wombs are not like Burger King; we aren’t supposed to have it our way. Am I wrong?
Sorry. Here’s a link to the wiki definition. It’s the best I could find.

How can it be legal to have an abortion when killing a baby is illegal?
Posted by: | CommentsWhen a sperm cell meets and penetrates an egg, it will fertilize it. At this moment, the genetic make-up is complete, including the sex of the infant. Within about three days after conception, the fertilized egg, which is dividing rapidly into many cells, passes through the fallopian tube into the uterus where it attaches to the uterine wall. The placenta, which will nourish the baby, also begins to form. At 4 wks of development the structures that eventually form the face and neck are becoming evident. The heart and blood vessels continue to develop. And the lungs, stomach, and liver start to develop. A home pregnancy test is now positive. At 8 wks the baby is now about the size of a grape – almost an inch in size. Eyelids and ears are forming and even the tip of the nose is visible. The arms and legs are well formed. The fingers and toes grow longer and more distinct. At 12 wks the fetus measures about two and a half inches and starts to make its own movements. You will start to see the top of the uterus above the pelvic bone. Your doctor may hear the baby’s heartbeat with special instruments. The sex organs of the baby should start to become clear. At 16 wks the fetus now measures about 4.3 to 4.6 inches and weighs about 2.8 ounces. The top of your uterus should be felt about three inches below your belly button. The baby’s eyes can blink and the heart and blood vessels are fully formed. The baby’s fingers and toes should have fingerprints. At 20 wks the baby weighs about 9 ounces and is about six inches long. The uterus should be at the level of the belly button. The baby can suck a thumb, yawn, stretch, and make faces. Soon — if you haven’t already — you’ll feel your baby move, which is called “quickening.” At 20 wks an ultrasound is generally performed for all pregnant women at 20 weeks of gestation. During this ultrasound, the doctor will confirm that the placenta is healthy and attached normally and that your baby is growing properly in the uterus. The baby’s heartbeat and movement of its body, arms, and legs can also be seen on the ultrasound. The gender of the baby can usually be determined. At 24 wks the fetus weighs about 1.4 pounds now. It responds to sounds by moving or increasing its pulse. You may notice jerking motions if it hiccups. With the inner ear fully developed, it may be able to sense being upside down in the womb. At 28 wks the fetus weighs about 2 pounds 6 ounces. It changes position frequently at this point in pregnancy. There’s a good chance of survival if your baby was born prematurely now. Ask your doctor about preterm labor warning signs. Register for birthing classes. Birthing classes prepare you for many aspects of childbirth, including labor and delivery and parenting the newborn. At 32 wks the fetus weighs almost 4 pounds. The baby’s skin has less wrinkles as a layer of fat starts to form under the skin. It will gain up to half its birth weight between now and delivery. Ask your doctor how to do a fetal movement chart. Think about breastfeeding. Soon you may start leaking colostrum from your breasts, a yellowish fluid that precedes milk production. At 36 wks babies differ in size, depending on many factors (such as gender, the number of babies being carried, and size of the parents), so your baby’s overall rate of growth is as important as the actual size. On average, it’s about 12.5 inches and weighs 5.5 pounds. The brain has been developing rapidly. Lungs are nearly fully developed. The head is usually positioned down into the pelvis by now. A pregnancy is considered ‘at term’ once 37 weeks has been completed; baby is ready!
