How much should I charge for daycare?
ByI am possibly going to be providing daycare for 2 kids (soon to be 3)in central Illinois. I will be going to their home to watch a 1 yr old and a 4 yr old. A new baby will be here in a few months. How much is daycare these days? I have never had to pay for childcare so I don’t know how much to charge them. It will be full time -approx. 9-10 hrs a day. 5 days a week.

i did this kind of work for many years.
for three children (ages 4, 1, and newborn), in home, for 9-10 hours… i would charge at least $12 per hour. if you will have to do some house cleaning also (considering how long you will be there)… i would charge $14-$15 per hour. if there is even more involved, charge more. i probably wouldn’t go any higher than $20 per hour, but definitely no less then $12.
if they want to give you a 1099 at the end of the year so they can deduct the cost when doing there taxes, that will mean you would have to pay taxes on the money you earned. if this is the case, you should make it no less than $15 per hour and try to pay your taxes quaterly or save for it, because it will be hard to come up with that money come tax season.
good luck and have fun. it really is a rewarding job.

i ran a daycare from my home, and after sourcing out childcare lately for my own brood, the prices are as follows:
infant – 19mths – $30-35/day full days
20mths – 3 $20-25/day full days
3 -5yrs – $18-20/day for up to 4hours (more $$ for longer days)
before school/after school care – $15-20/aday (up to 5hours total)
good luck!
