It's amazing to me that this old fashioned method of 'sleep training' still exists and people refuse to acknowledge the harmful effects of it. I know it's hard but cry-it-out is not in the best interests of your baby. He's not really old enough to be doing this because he's spoiled. Something is causing him pain, it seems like to me. Talk to his doctor about it. He is your baby and he needs you. I know it must be very exhausting, but his needs and wants have to be met. It could be something medical that is bothering him, or he may just need extra comfort. This was after months of misdiagnoses - but her parents kept bringing her in and kept trying to find the actual problem. From what you write, I am 95% sure there is a medical reason behind it - be it something in his diet he can't handle (my baby had this problem with cow's milk in my diet when I was breast feeding, I cut out the dairy and he was cured). or some kind of infection that hasn't been diagnosed. I wouldn't just live with it, I would get a medical opinion (or three) and see what they say. Has he always been like this? Do not give in and have a hard child. No one will want to watch him or be around him. All of the thumbs down...oh well you probably have spoiled children that people cant stand and they talk about you behind your back! I love him dearly, but....geez. I am a single mom who works full time. Finally, just the past couple of days I put him to bed about 7-8 and get up ONCE around 1 a.m to feed him. Then I close his door, turn down the baby monitor, and leave him to his own devices until about 530 am. I just couldn't keep getting up every hour with him and still get up and put in a full day of work (and then another full day of work when I got home!!!!). I know it sounds harsh to let him "cry it out" but my baby has been doing well with putting himself back to sleep (so far). Best of luck! Sounds like my 4 month old. I love him dearly, but….geez.
