Whatever your personal view on pregnant men, what a relief it is to find a Bodyshock film that’s not about some hideous disease or heartbreaking deformity. In March last year, Scott Moore from California became only the world’s second man to give birth. Not so long ago, such a feat seemed impossible — now it’s been downgraded to “rare”. So much so that in this film we also meet a midwife who specializes in transgender births. Busy, much? You wish somebody had asked her. Scott was able to get pregnant because he was born a girl and hadn’t gone the whole hog with his sex change op. Legally he’s still a woman, which was how he was able to marry his partner, Tom, who was also born female but who did have a full sex change. For anyone who is still trying to puzzle this out, they are now two gay men. And before starting their own family they were also dads to two boys from one of Tom’s previous relationships. This calm documentary charts Scott and Tom’s unusual home-life as their son Miles is born and they make the decision to try for a second baby. This is made more fraught by their move to a new home in Bible Belt New Mexico. And their quest to keep their heads down probably isn’t helped either by the director of this documentary outing them to their barber. But this scene does expose Tom’s own surprisingly conservative views. “Girls have long hair, boys have short hair,” he tells his son firmly. “I just don’t get the whole long hair on a guy thing.”

Yes, i agree that it’s not normal, but i think it’s acctualy quite cool that they had a child together. Good for them! =D

they can call themselves men, but I’ll go with their DNA. DNA says they’re still genetically women, you can do whatever surgery you want, you can run whatever spin and use whatever hormones you want. You can artificially graft a penis on if you want, but males do not carry children within their bodies. This “man” is still a woman on the most basic level.

@Fluffy4020 Again, their instincts and their brains are male, but their bodies are female. It was a genetic mutation. The clash between the two identities is so horrendous something has to be changed. People tried to change the brain at first because it’s believed in society that the brain is easy to change. But that’s completely untrue in this case. Mental gender identity cannot be changed; we go through such devastation we can only beg that people treat us the way we feel.

@CatFlashBlue My statement was extremely sarcastic and ridiculous. People are depressed all the time by mental disorders. I consider this a mental disorder, and I do not feel like cheering these people on. I don’t see any problem with everyone just living a normal life instead of these stupid urges to mess up their bodies so they can feel “normal”. I am sick of this shit.

@Fluffy4020 Go for it! I can hear your sarcasm and your attempt to show how ridiculous my comment was but honestly, there was nothing ridiculous in your statement or mine. You will have a hard time passing as a woman if you don’t dress like one or try hard to pass. You would be known as a non-operational lesbian transwoman. They exist. You see it’s an unwillingness to accept, like found in your attitude, that makes people hide them true selves and go into severe depression. It’s so hurtful.

@Isaacthekid The souls, what’s inside of us, what tells us that we exist, can give out the information, the awareness, in life. I hope one day you will understand what you said, what you did, was badly informed. If you want to understand more in life or the existence you are in, I suggest that you should try to be more aware consciously, empathically, of others and what is around you. It will be sad if you still cannot see what I am trying to tell you.

@Isaacthekid Being woman doesn’t mean that she must have XX, it’s what she feels about herself, what she is, that tells her. I can see the signs of intolerances. What you don’t understand is that gender is not a placed in limited sections. In a way, it is like art or math, there are no limits of one’s identity. Life doesn’t have limits or rules, only the physical matter is what life tells us

You shouldn’t be annoyed by pregnant men stories and man is still a man even if he has babies. It should be a human’s right to have children of anyway the individual wants to or not, whether it’s pregnancy or adopting. Also, you are wrong about people having XX can get pregnant or they are women. There are people who have XX but can’t get pregnant. The chromosome doesn’t define one gender as well.

@CatFlashBlue it is not physical at all. it is something psychological. i am not ignorant at all. i just do not think it is fair on the kids. also genetically they are female, they have the XX chromosomes and therefore would have the physical characteristics of females. one actually still has female reproducive organs. therefore physically they are still female. SO therefore it is definitely psychological

@Fluffy4020 You are being mean and unaccepting. But more importantly: you have greatly misunderstood what it means to be transgender. Transgender is a physical disorder, not a mental disorder. These are men trapped in the XX chromosomes, trapped in physically female bodies. And yes they damn well right can call themselves men because it truly is who they ARE.
It’s not about P.C., but the truth.

@MYLOVEITSTRUE Those kids’ sexual orientations are not affected by their parents’ orientations. Otherwise how would you explain a gay child of heterosexual parents?
Sexual orientation is something born into their DNA, just as gender identity is. The way the kids are raised has nothing to do with that.

@Jimmymack1able What has a detrimental effect on kids is parents that raise them to be extraordinarily ignorant, such as perhaps your parents did.
These are men in their brain and instincts, and were born trapped in female bodies. Being transgender is a physical disorder, not a mental disorder. Therefore they are men. The good thing about this family is that they will raise loving and empathetic kids.

I’m surprised Scott and Tom didn’t REFUSE to get married on the basis that society still forced Scott to be legally identified as female, when he IS NOT. Yeah I get that physically he didn’t fully transition but that only means his brain and instincts are totally male, and his body is female. 1 of the two has to be put down legally, and the more important and true of those 2 is male.
