Note: Better quality version first video response I made this video back in 1984 on VHS as a project to learn how to edit videotape. The song “The Infant Kiss” on Kate Bush’s album “Never for Ever” was based on the film “The Innocents”. I managed to get a tape of the film from TV, and made this video. The video appeared on a fan video collection I edited later and it wound up posted on YouTube by Gaffahead. I’ve never been happy with the quality of the versions that are in circulation – the pan’n’scan wasn’t fair to the brilliant Cinemascope of the original film, so I made this version.

One of my favorite psychological horror films. Disturbing but so beautiful. The song complements it well-I love Kate Bush!

How FABULOUS is this???!!! Kate wrote this song after seeing this film about an infant who was possesed by the spirit of a man. Your video captures the whole mood of this song. Thanks for this, it’s bloody marvelous!

Incredible movie, incredible song, but imagine if a guy sang this about a little girl!
The film and the song are playing with the idea of paedophilia. Ground-breaking for it’s time. By the way I love your edit.

First, light one candle. and sit. then cue this movie up to play, blow out the candle and sit for one minute in the dark…….. THEN watch the movie alone or with somone who can apreceate film for what it is.

Actually I wonder if this movie had controversy when it came out? Deb Kerr is kissing quite passionately…looks wonderful for the movie but might have been seen as bad at the time….

@thisters Kate was inspired to write the song by the film. I learned about this from an interview, then obtained a copy of the movie and made a video to the song to learn how to edit.
