Fellow Christians: Do you think that faith requires HUMILITY??
ByQuestion by GodisLove09: Fellow Christians: Do you think that faith requires HUMILITY??
“At that time Jesus said, “I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and have revealed them to infants.” Matthew 11:25
But Jesus called for them, saying, “Permit the children to come to Me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these” Luke 18:16
Do you think that Jesus is saying that a humble “child-like” person will know God and not someone who thinks they are too smart to believe in God (Pride)?

I think REPENTANCE requires humility. Faith comes naturally thereafter.
You cannot separate the two.

Exactly. Children have Faith.
Children are not humble by nature,
hence “humble & childlike”

It is very simple; you must be humble to learn. The person who is very prideful and “knows it all” will never learn.
“a person who knows not and knows not that he/she knows not is a fool, shun them”.

Absolutely.

Definitely and yes. We need to become trusting and humble to walk in God’s presence. We can’t be proud or arrogant or anything that might hold us back from trusting God completely. That’s my answer.

Yes, absolutely, we must be willing to be taught in order to be considered sheep and not goats. And Jesus said that his sheep would know his voice and the goats would be cut off.

Defintitely. It is extremely hard for a person to admit they have failed. We all know that. But once we do admit we have sinned against God, and we need a Savior, the relief and the peace is overwhelming. You know this, don’t you? *wink*

You hit the nail on the head. To submit to any authority takes humility. And the more humble you are in sight of the Lord, the better you can know him. When approaching God as creatures, it is impossible to be too humble. He created us and everything around us, and loves us unconditionally just because we are his creation. He loves us so much that he committed the greatest act of humility for us by taking our nature. Think about it – the Master of all the universe becoming like one of his own creatures. You don’t get any more humble than that. Then he allowed himself to be subjected to the most humiliating and excruciating death at the hands of the creatures he loves so much.
What could be more humbling?

Yes, but then you have to be aware of the possibility of self-righteous pride later on. But in general, acknowledging that there is a higher Authority than yourself requires humility.

I don’t think that it necessarily does. It is written that faith comes from the word of God. Children come to their parents with faith and love, dependent on them . God would like the same from us. Pride is what makes people want to depend on themselves instead of God. That kind of pride will only make trouble for them. As it is written. ” PRIDE GOETH BEFORE DESTRUCTION AND A HAUGHTY SPIRIT BEFORE FALL” .
