How far along were you when you took maternity leave?

By pregnantnews

I’m 29 weeks and already 2 cm dilated. When did you take maternity leave? Any suggestions as to when I should take mine, already being 2 cm dilated?
Yeah I am early to be 2cm dilated. I got an infection and ended up contracting. I’m not having contractions anymore but they said at anytime I could start again with him being head down and 2 cm. along.

your abit early to be 2 cm dilated, I took mine because I had this at 33 weeks plus I started early labour but they managed to stop it, so I left around 33 weeks

I left mine a little late – I started leave at 36 weeks and went into labour at 36 weeks 2 days….I’d advise taking it easy from about 34 weeks as you get really tired in these later stages. If you’re already dilated, I’d recommend finishing up a bit earlier – maybe 32-33 weeks?

April 24 th was due May22nd so about 4 weeks before i gave birth ,but then again i wasnt dilating at that time.

38 weeks but I have an office job, and a good chair!
The first time, it left me with 5 days of freetime. The second time, I had 10 days to myself.

I started mine at 36 weeks along. I should have started it a few weeks earlier, as I was soooo tired those last few weeks. But now im sitting at home at 37 weeks and im bored senseless …
I would plan to leave work at least 3-4 weeks before your due date. Because your 2cm dilated, I would make sure you have your bags packed and you are ready to go at any time.

I had to stop working when i found out i was pregnant because of the kind of industry im in, i have really enjoyed the time off though : )
I have been able to really relax and look after myself, i have caught up with friends, kept the house nice, cooked lovely meals for dinner… it has been wonderful!

I literally worked until 2 days before giving birth, and I went back to work when my son was 3 weeks old. I couldn’t afford to take a big break from work. Plus I was a server so the more pregnant I got, the bigger the tips were.

But I would probably start leave around 35 weeks if I were you. I wouldn’t worry too much about the dilation. Some people are always dilated a little, doesn’t neccesarily mean you’re about to give birth.

I’m 31 weeks right now and plan on starting mine in 8 weeks….three days before my due date. I want to save my vacay time for when I have the baby so ill have more time with him in the beginning. I don’t have a nice office job where I get to sit on my butt all day. I do serious lifting and runnin around so we’ll see how this works out before I give in. Lol
