Another question about BPA. Who STILL uses bottles containing BPA?

By pregnantnews

It’s been around for a while, and as far as I know, I have not yet met one person with issues from this chemical or whatever it is. You don’t need to get all freaked out, I’m just wondering if there is anyone still using BPA bottles? I have an Playtex VentAire and I know without it, we would have some major gas issues, and I really haven’t found anything besides it that works. It was a lifesaver when we started using it, and now this whole big BPA thing that is freaking out everyone and people are telling me everytime I use it I should stop slowly killing my son. I think that’s a little extreme. Am I alone here? Or are there other “bad” (yea right) moms out there?
I’ve used Drop Ins, but they were terrible for us, I just use hot water straight from the tap, I don’t heat anything (usually) in the bottle itself.

Well, get ready for crazy comments and I’ll get ready for some thumbs down. I now use Playtex drop-ins (BPA free), but I switched to them because I was sick and tired of cleaning all of the Dr. Brown’s parts. However, if my sons gas was still terrible I would have no problem using Dr. Brown’s bottles. They help tremendously with his gas and spit up and I think that is far more important than a potential risk that no one knows very much about yet. I hand wash my bottles and serve formula room temp anyways. I guess I’m a “bad” mom too.

I had some ventair bottles that I used as his juice bottles instead of using his Playtex drop ins that are BPA free but I through them out. The Playtex Drop ins let you push all the air out and helps to reduce/eliminate gas issues. Also did you know that some of the studies on the rats that were exposed to small amounts of BPA developed breast cancer, prostate cancer, and it affected their metabolism where they gained weight,

Check these out and read the info: I have also stopped eating any thing canned because the food packaging plants coat their metal cans wiht BPA.

I am still using the ventaire bottles as well. I agree with you, BPA has been around a while and doesn’t worry me. I think people are over exaggerating.

i use the advent bottle still as well and i also use hanze sippy cups to, i am worried about it but if she hasn’t gotten sick yet from it, then I’m not so worried, if i buy any more sippy cups I’m going to look at the number in the recycling triangle at the bottom on the cup, if its 3-5 its fine, but if its 7 then don’t buy it, i don’t think I’m a bad mom for not wanting to go out and buy a new bottle and sippy cups, i cant bloody afford it, but if they were so bad they would take them all off the market right? plus if everyone wants me to buy the bpa free bottles and sippy cups, then ill make them pay for it.

I still use our VentAire bottles. My son only gets about 5 bottles a week- 1 a day while I’m at work. The rest of the time, he breastfeeds. I’m not concerned about BPA because the only time it causes a problem is when the bottles are exposed to high temperatures. I don’t microwave them, I don’t put them in the dishwasher, I don’t boil them to sterilze them. I wash them with warm, soapy water.

BPA is not just a problem in baby bottles- it is in just about every hard plastic out there. Bottled water bottles included.

And the whole “it causes cancer in rats” thing… Ok, true. But, so does the artificial sugar that is found in diet soda. So do certain flavorings in gum. So does the polluted air that we breathe. Etc, etc, etc…… get my point?

I still use my Ventaire bottles. I tried some of the BPA free ones, and my daughter did so bad on them. I dont heat them up in the microwave, and I just hand wash them. BPA has been around for so long. I read that the FDA has not stated that they are bad, its just doctors who do research.
