Avent releasing BPA free bottles?

By pregnantnews

I am due in about 6 weeks and I have been holding off on getting bottles because I heard and read online that Avent was going to release a BPA free bottle in summer of ‘08. Well…..It’s already mid August and I still haven’t heard of a release date! Does anyone know if this was just a rumor or is Avent really going to release a BPA free bottle? I loved Avents and used them with my 1st, but now with all of the BPA warnings and risks, I want to only use BPA free. I am about to go buy BornFree bottles, but they are 2x as expensive and I would rather use avent.
With the information released today, why even chance it? BPA bottles are already being taken off of the shelves in Canada. Thanks for everyones recommendations on the other brands. I do appreciate it and will take it into consideration.
“Jessica (Ava’s Mommy)” Thank you so much for answering my question! I am so excited to see they released them but they are the same price as BornFree!? I am so disappointed they raised their prices.

I don’t know about Avent but I can recommend Born Free – they don’t leak and are super easy to clean if you get the brush set.

I kinda liked the avent bottles, they were better than the tomee tippee. But by far the best was the dr.brows anti colic bottles. My boy was so coliky, forever crying, but introducing the dr,browns bottles helped.

If you want to prevent colic, i suggest getting anti colic bottles with the valves in the middle of the bottle, stops the baby from swallowing air.
dr.browns bottles are a bit more expensive but worth it.

I would imagine any risk is minimal otherwise the product would have been taken off the market….how many millions of babies around the worl are using or have used avent bottles…..your first child for example….I know people want the best for their kids – but have we all gone a little bit OTT……looks at the amount of germs a child ingests when he/she starts crawling etc…and the amount of harmful substances they could ingest….it’s entirely up to yourself…I’d continue to use avent…we do…..and millions of others do too…….

All Medela bottles are BPA free too.

I did see an advertisement in one of the baby magazines I get about that. I don’t know when it’s going to happen though.

i use born free bottles, they are a little pricey but they are great bottles!

Haven’t heard anything about BPA free Avent.
I would get the BornFree anyway as they help prevent colic. I use them and MAM bottles and I am very happy with both.

i heard avent was not going to change their bottles? i love the playtex dropins – awesome to get rid of air and easy cleanup!! and best off all – they are BPA free (you can go to their website for details)

avent has the bottle on there website . I haven’t found them in stores yet but I’m in Canada. If you Can’t find the BPA free avent they also have the drop in kind or there is also Gerber GentleFlow they are BPA free it’s a copy of avent the only thing I don’t like is they come with medium flow nipples but the avent nipples fit so I bought a 3 pack of bottles for $12.00 and the 2 packs of avent nipple.

Avent has a BPA-free bottle that has been out for a while. It’s the Tempo disposable system which is similar to the Playtex Drop-Ins and I’m pretty sure you can still use your old Avent nipples with it. I used to use Avent but when the bottles got pulled off the shelf here in Canada I returned all mine. I ended up getting some Mam Ultivent bottles from Target.com. They were relatively inexpensive (3 for around $12) and durable and the thing that I really like is that everything in the Mam line is BPA-free…pacifiers included.
