BPA free bottles, cups, sippys. Need suggestions PLEASE!!!!!!!!?

By pregnantnews

My daughter has been using the regular plastic Dr. Browns for the past 9 months of her life. I have recently been hearing a lot about BPA, PVC, ect. I am looking to switch to a different bottle that is free of these chemicals because as I recently found out Dr.Browns contain all of these. I would prefer to use glass because, although I do plan to have more children I don’t know when. And I do know that plastic ones should only be kept for about 1 1/2 -2 years. Which of the BPA free or Glass bottles do you use. About what was the cost and would you recommend them. Thanks so much. Also tips on any other baby products that are BPA free would be great too, like spoons, plates, bowls, sippy cups ect.

Playtex Drop Ins

Medela. They are about $14.99 for 3 5 oz. bottles. Well worth it in my book!

I love glass bottles. They’re sometimes hard to find in stores, but you can find them anywhere on the internet (I ordered mine on Amazon.com). A set of 3 8 oz. Evenflo bottles is $4.95. Dr. Brown’s also makes glass bottles if you want to stick with that system for the gas. Those are $14.95 for 2 7 oz. bottles on Amazon. If you prefer to stick with plastic and want BPA free, Born Free are the most popular. They’re super expensive though (over $10 each). If there’s a Walmart around you, they have a 3 pack of 8 oz. plastic bottles for less than $3.00. They say BPA free right on the front in big letters. I can’t find them on their website, buy almost every actual store carries them. I highly recommend the glass bottles as they last forever (good for your next children) and they are so much easier to wash. I’ve started washing everything by hand and the soap washes out so much quicker in the glass ones than in the plastic ones. It makes you wonder if the soap can be absorbed into the plastic, what else can too, and then also what’s coming out of it and into the milk as well. You’re a good Mommy to be concerned…Sometimes Mom’s need a pat on the back for the thankless work we do every single day…so, good work!

From what I have read, anything that is a colored plastic is BPA free. I currently use the Playtex Nurser Drop Ins – they work well as you can push all of the extra air out of the bottle to keep the baby from getting too much gas. Just make sure you don’t run out of liners at a 3 am feeding! I didn’t like the thought of glass bottles, too much risk of one being dropped and breaking.

Check out this site:

Dr. Browns makes glass bottles and they will soon be coming out with Polypropylene (BPA-free) bottles.

my son used Avent bottles and when i heard about the BPA in it i searched for a bottle close to it. I found Gerber GentleFlow bottles. almost exactly like Avent, but BPA free. I even used Avent nipples for it because the Gerber ones were too fast.

He now uses Avent sippy cups that do not have BPA. usually BPA products are hard and clear. the Avent MagicCups are colored plastic, and are not made with BPA.
